About
Out of Time is an original meditation and art-therapeutic platform. It is designed to immerse the user in a state of “flow”, where the boundaries between time and space blur. This is not a space for sleep preparation ー it is a place for intense katharsis, emotional purification, and confrontation with one’s own process of discovery.
In a world dominated by superficial stimulation, this project offers a safe haven for the mind, based on the foundations of aesthetics and primal art therapy. Inspired by the 17th-century philosophy of Robert Fludd, this installation offers an exploration of the emerging realm of Entity: from dense, dark matter (hyle), through the abyss (abyssus) and chaos, to the ethereal function of fog (caligo).

Out of Time is a radical art installation, not a traditional game. I deliberately abandon typical mechanics, menus, and goals to enable a full, physical presence. Enter this world if you are seeking an experience, rather than traditional gameplay.
Absolute Freedom: Here, time does not exist. The experience is unlimited ー You can stay for 15 minutes or several hours, depending on your needs. No goals are imposed. Your task is to simply BE and allow the free flow of thoughts.
A wordless narrative built through light, geometry, and your own movement – accessible to anyone, regardless of language.
Using motion controllers, you navigate through invisible sound paths. Follow your ears. Invisible sound tunnels are placed throughout the environment to guide you through the experience.
An environment designed to facilitate cognitive development and entering a state of "flow", conducive to stress reduction.
Rooted in deep research into new media art, Out of Time originated as a core diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Following its premiere at prestigious exhibitions, including the 10th Triennial of Polish Graphic Art, the project has been fully reimagined in Unreal Engine 5.
This evolution from the original concept to the current high-fidelity vision enables a profound multisensory experience—a space where historical philosophical inquiry meets the frontier of cutting-edge VR technology.
Personal experience as a natural extension of the body, an uninterrupted meditative process.
Control: Motion controllers required.
Sound: Headphones required.
Comfort: Comfortable VR – no sudden movements; support for standing, sitting and lying positions.
Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my VR gameplay here: https://youtu.be/dy4Td0zrKqI Consider this a neutral recommendation. This is an experimental artistic black & white experience that is endless. Since art is very subjective, I have chosen to abstain from scoring it. On the Meta Quest 3 you can move in 6 DOF. Right or left trigger is up, right or left grab button is down, and the joysticks will move you in 4 directions with forward being in the direction you're facing. Much like space, where up can be down and left could be right as it's all relative to your position, such is art. It seems infinite, but I believe it is indeed finite. You can reach the very bottom and very top of the installation, as well as out of bounds. You'll hear sounds. You can move towards them if you wish. However, it is a meditative experience, so indeed nothing happens or at least nothing happens because of you or your input. Your perspective may change though. It's running on the Unreal Engine 5. On my RTX 5090, it seemed to be running at a steady 90 fps. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs, although it did reset by itself and I'm not sure if that was intended, but I think so. You can play comfortably seated in theory, but you'll probably want to play standing so you can turn around and view stuff (there is no artificial turning). A digital altered state of consciousness. Not a game, but a sensory instrument. If you are looking for gameplay, look elsewhere. "Out of Time" is a serious audiovisual installation that acts like white noise for your entire nervous system. It’s a precision-engineered tool composed of four distinct interconnected spaces (Darkness, Depths, Chaos, Clouds). It doesn't guide you; it absorbs you. The Experience: It works on the principle of sensory overstimulation to induce a state of flow. You can jump in for 5 minutes to reset, or—like I did—spend 4 hours lying on the floor in the "Caligo" level, drifting deep into your own psyche. It functions almost like a drug-free trip. The progression is masterful: * Darkness: Sparks curiosity. * Depths: Calms you down before the storm. * Chaos: Delivers total sensory overstimulation. * Clouds: Brings a final state of bliss and closure, letting you drift "out of time." Visually, it leverages Unreal Engine 5 to create abstract, breathing environments. Sonically, it isolates you from reality. After a long session, I felt genuinely changed. It’s intense, sometimes uncomfortable, but ultimately cathartic. Verdict: 10/10 – A mandatory experience for digital psychonauts and art lovers.
Sound is ok in general but visualy are some conplex shapes, its deep yes but it could have been more so its only worth 0.5€, definetly not 15,79€ worth. It relaxes a bit, but you should work on your asset creating skills and make more content in the game, also oculus 2 is not recommend for this experience.
Relaxing experience, makes you stay present for a while in this overstimulating world we live in today. Didn't experience any performance issues or bugs.
Only spent a short while having a first look but I really like the concept and the experience. Its bold with its binary look but could do with some antialiasing options as the geometory can shimmer some im places top say the least. I am a Shaman who has been into and creating digital and physical art since the 80's. The opening sound is almost identical to one I had created in the 90's for an animation so this kind of work is very much my vibe. Its far from a game experience so don't expect excitement. I did feel a sense of dread on returning to the lower levels and felt glad to see the lighter areas from the dark. I wasn't paid for my review or given a free copy. I bought it on sale. Its not an easy recommendation but neither is recommending going to an art gallery unless you want to go. I look forward to spending some time in this experience further. Locomotion controls for controller based turning would have been nice addition
Не настолько атмосферно, чтобы просить за это такую цену. Возврат средств через 7 минут.
Do not expect a game. This is interesting meditative experience.
