About
"I have come to tell you that you are free. Many ages ago, My consciousness left man, that he might develop himself. I return to find this development approaching completion, but hindered by fear and by misunderstanding."
Your final gift to humanity, stolen in its final moments. An unheard of conspiracy spanning millennia snuffed in it's final act, only to be reborn.
It's the 23rd of May, 2023 and you are about to end the world.
You don't remember. A crashed van at the gates of a manor, a dead driver. A cold chilling fog pushes you towards the entrance where the door is curiously open. Reality ends here.
Presented in a late 90's low-poly style inspired by the fifth generation of games consoles, Eschaton is a short, surreal, first person exploration game set in the Scottish Highlands. Explore the grounds of an abandoned manor, analyse the environment, talk to beings who don't quite make sense, experience a short surreal trip that lasts until midnight.
Headphones are recommended; Eschaton uses binaural beats to instil fear / tension / aid focus and change your state of mind at certain points of the game.

Reviews
originally, this review was a negative one due to the use of generative AI in the game. if you want to know more about that, the developer responded to this thread. that stuff aside, eschaton is really cool. it’s short, but there are a number of really memorable visuals that made the experience worth it. it also makes use of binaural audio in a way i haven’t seen many games do.
I've never played a game where my ears felt exfolitated afterwards. Just riding this audio high rn
my recommendation is very light touch here; i'm not sure if you need it, but it won't hurt you. an esoteric walking sim, and i didn't dislike my time spent in it, yet .. drippy, chewy visuals and an abundance of style, the work could have been paced a little better i think, given more to interact with. a lot of ideas that i would like to see the dev explore further in another work perhaps.
I would describe this as an interacting audio/visual art piece and I would very much love to see more!
An interesting experience, only 30 minutes but loved it personally
while this game is exceedingly short (all achievements / hidden collectables done in just over 20 minutes) It was still a relatively enjoyable experience, the strange and creepy vibes definitely lent itself to improving the game a lot and it ended on a visually stunning end that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Forgot I had bought this almost a year ago and just now played it. Great game. Philosophical. Powerful. For me it's a 10
The only thing worse than a profound idea poorly executed is an idiot who thinks they have a profound idea which is then poorly executed Absolute waste of my life
Short but a nice experience that kinda messes with your brain through audio, simple but effective.
It’s good enough for the price. Unique but nothing too special, personally I think the game is more conceptually interesting than it is in execution
