Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 10.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
In a solar system cut-off from a ravaged Earth, you play as a scavenger trying to make a living in the dredges of space. Wage-slave scrapper life isn’t enough anymore, and at last you’ve pulled together the funds (plus a hefty loan) to have a go at independence.
Based in the same universe as Blue Bottle Game’s last hit NEO Scavenger, learn to manage your dysfunctional crew and ship as you fend off bankruptcy...or worse.
Every choice you make will affect the outcome of the game. In character creation, you’ll use a Career Kiosk to shape your character’s background, income, and qualifications. Use it to customise your traits and skillset, which will be essential when managing your ship, its crew, and anyone sticking their noses in your business. You’ll start out the game with enemies, ex-lovers, and acquaintances to seek out… or avoid. Just remember your early decisions will affect your options and outcomes in conversations down the line.
Build your dream ship from the ground up, using detailed, functional parts. Scavenge “pre-loved” parts in the boneyard to upgrade your ship - finding old or rare parts in the system is much cheaper than tracking down the original manufacturer. Who has time to scour the solar system? Hook up subsystems, add extra power and fuel, and be sure to replace parts which have worn out during your adventures. Parts are essential to your experience and will change how your ship feels to fly.
“I cannot change the laws of physics, Captain!” In Ostranauts you will be piloting a ship under the laws of Newtonian flight, learning to fly using in-world manuals and sheets. It will be your job to manipulate control panels, flip switches, and to resist the urge to press the big shiny red button… Every craft has a different flight feel based on thrusters, hull mass, and how you’ve customised the ship. Remember to use a light touch whilst docking, and try not find yourself in the outer rim with an empty fuel gauge.
Even in the darkest corners of space, you are not alone. Each character you encounter runs an AI that is constantly making choices based on their current needs and past experiences. They have physiological and emotional needs, ranging from basic wants like food, oxygen and water all the way up to deeper needs like intimacy and security. As captain, keep an eye out at the space port, scout out a crew and build those relationships. Your background will shape out how you are able to interact with other characters and if they will join your ship - have you developed a silver tongue or does fear rule your ship?
Based in the same universe as NEO Scavenger, Ostranauts will be rich with lore for those who wish to explore. After the collapse of civilization on Earth, colonies and factions formed - colonising other planets, moons and asteroids - with only those able to adapt to the harshness of space able to survive. As states and corporations spread their reach through the System, whispers of unexplained phenomena are creeping through back channels.
Blue Bottle Games encourages players to join the Discord, share modding ideas, and to help grow the world of Ostranauts. Modders who want to make their experience more unique are able to edit a wide variety of game data - most of the game's data is in plain-text files for easy access. If you have an inquiry, send us a message in either the Blue Bottle or Kitfox Discord.

I started this game with only watching a friend play and slowly learning for a few months. My first save was was over 48 hours long, custom made a ship, made it to the current updated content and had an absolute blast. Now I'm working towards making a fast as ♥♥♥♥ ship to try and beat my buddy's cannonball run to Venus Orbital. 222 hours later and I'm modding this game, adding more content and other manageable resources just for fun. If you have the patience to learn, this game is fantastic. And the community is great as well. 10/10
Before I start this review I want to say that I dont think this game is passionless slop. Ostranauts is a game which I sunk 14 hours into a playthrough for, with more hours in total from pirated copies. Yet ive really not seen anything too interesting, which is weird. Instead ive spent a bunch of time watching my character uninstall some scrap. Then dragging it back to my ugly (im aware it makes sense in universe but its still true) ship, flying back to a station, and selling it. I really dont have anything too interesting to spend my money on so I just put it back into my mortgage. And thats a problem because scrapping ships seems to be the main gameplay element in this game. Yet its boring, at least its boring for the first 14 HOURS, none of which was spent fiddling with any controls. I never encountered a ship where there was, I dont know, crazy cultists, haywire defense systems, aliens, parasites, ANYTHING. Not even a room that was pressurized and so opening it will pull air in and hurt me. Oh, its a nuclear reactor, clearly uninstalling this unprepared will kill me, right? Nope, I just right click, press uninstall, and thats it. Thats what you do to everything, right click, press uninstall, some items can get damaged by uninstalling (like transponders) so clearly I need to prepare more and uninstall it more care- nope, its just rng, you just save scum it. Literally everything behaves the exact same and its so dull. Keep in mind im anxious as all heck, if there were one singular instance of ANYTHING happening id be scared for the rest of my playthrough. This is related to the biggest thing lacking in this game, atmosphere. At least while on the vessels you are intended to scrap, theres nothing. The sound design is uninteresting. you never hear the ship creaking and threatening to break apart. You hear nothing. Sure it might be realistic but who cares about realism, realism serves to make the gameplay more involved or interesting, not to strip back interesting elements (insert the todd howard saying "oh starfield is realistic IRL you woudnt find anything on random planets). The game is dystopian in name only. What happens when I dock, surely some guy holds me up for two hours unless I have money or "know someone", right? Nope, you dock perfectly fine with no holdups. Okay but clearly someones going to hold my ship hostage and make me pay a fee, right? Nope. You get charged very reasonable docking fees. You buy salvage passes to make sure you are legally allowed to salvage. So at some point a cop is going to run around and demand your salvage pass before tearing it up and saying that he will do you a favour and let you off this time (for a small fee, of course.) Nope. If you have a salvage pass no one bugs you. Alright, so maybe not the corruption angle, maybe just the corporate greed angle (clearly something the game wants you to think). So I should start the game with just like, INSURMOUNTABLE amounts of debt from the corpos but nope, just your mortgage. When I fly back I should just be saddled with INSANE tacked on fees, fees for convenience, fees for administrative slop, fees that arent actually for anything. so on and so on. I'm not even being creative, thats just IRL ticketmaster. IRL ticketmaster is more of a dystopia than the fictional videogame. Also theres an achievement named 16 tons, and you get it from getting scrip, I dont have it. Why dont I have it. Scrip should really, be the DEFAULT METHOD of payment, the company store should be trying to OWN ME. Yet I get payed in normal legal tender I can use anywhere. Like whats the point. This is all to say that despite the fact ostronauts claims to be a dystopian society, it really isnt, like theres really NOTHING dystopian here, other than some small annoying fees, sometimes. Like cmon, be a dystopia, not just like, capitalism but honestly less bad than right now for the most part. Yeah sure maybe the game gets more interesting when you invest the time into building a torch reactor and flying far. But thats just annoying. The shipbuilding in this game is annoying and you have very little in game motivation to buypass it. You click to place where floors and walls should be and watch as your guy SLOWLY places them. Then if you would want that room to be survivable you need to install air and N2 and heating and cooling and all of that tied to thermostats and Blah Blah Blah. Its annoying and boring, and before you say "oh you just dont like building spacecraft" and true enough its not my favourite thing but at the same time ive played a large amount of KSP and enjoyed it. If this game just had an ACTUAL ship editor where I can place down what I want and I get an itemized list of what im missing this system would be WAAAY better. Also let me buy more floors and walls. You can just say "oh you have no patience" and sure, I don't. I've also put hundreds of hours into My Summer Car, a game that advertises itself as "not fun" I love stalker gamma, a game where getting a new weapon WILL take hours. I've played stalker mods that are extremely slow. But I enjoyed them because they gave me unique experiences, stories. The story of the brain scorcher raid. The story of me winning the rally. The story of me completing one quest (looking at you NLC 7, no one will no what that is). This game has given me one story (for like 99% of my playtime) The story of docking with a ship, pressing right click to uninstall, and dragging it back. Sure theres gigs and bounties, I BUILT MY ENTIRE CURRENT CHARACTER AROUND DOING THEM but they still just serve as supplementary income. Not to mention bounties are just, broken, you just show me a ship with no location info. I really cant do anything with this, apparently according to a guide I install a radar and sort through like, 100 ships, like really, is that exciting? Overall, ostronauts is tedious, boring, and not worth playing for most people. Thumbs down, I do not recommend

Very woke to the point of I was't even sure which of 2 provided portraits of my char parents was mother and who was father. Pronounce and all that crap also there. Massively turn off for me even before gameplay begins. Should've check better when I first bought this.
Unfortunately, I cannot in good conscience recommend this game. I like the concept of it - starting with a small ship in mortgage, access to a ship boneyard for a nominal fee (or for free if you're good at hiding from cops) and some skills in building ships and tearing them apart. Simulated electrical systems, pressure, malfunctions such as fires or navigation station software bugging out. Build out your ship, travel the Solar System, do some stuff - questing, trading, asteriod mining, even participating in a war, good stuff, good ideas. The problem is bad implementation. The deeper you go into the game, the more problems you find with various systems. The gases don't go through adiabatic cooling, which is reasonable for a game, so any gases you pump into your ship are at room temperature, but *sometimes* re-pressurising a room ends up with it being barely a few Kelvin hot. Characters that are prone to choosing the way around the ship if they can, doesn't matter if that way happens to go outside and they have no EVA suit on (space, remember?). Autotasking, which is basically required if you don't want to click your character through installing 400 floors and 80 walls one by one, is very bad in a lot of ways that are too long to go into details here. Barely anything happens during time skip, so if you want any work done, you'll have to let your characters do the work and go watch Youtube or something. Characters still can't replace batteries in tools without dropping flat batteries on the ground instead of properly inserting them into chargers. And speaking of tools, they will choose the first tool they find when you need one, not "the best in their inventory" or anything like that, so you need to take care to not leave old tools in any reachable places. CO2 filters never get used up, so while CO2 buildup is still bad for your character, that particular system is half-baked. Item sorting in kiosks for buying/selling is arcane. Flight is Newtonian... to a point, it doesn't simulate gravity faithfully enough (in my opinion) and the navigation station doesn't give you enough tools to utilize the fact. Fuel isn't accounted in ship mass, which you could argue is a gameplay decision, but cargo in cargo pods does count in ship mass, so I dunno. Autopilot for interplanetary travel cheats, uses too much fuel and still smacks you into planets sometimes. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. I have two problems with this game. I played this game for 250 hours total, about 150 hours back when I just bought it and about 100 hours near and after release. This game pulled me in enough that I tried to figure out and work around all this problems, be it by modding, adapting my processes to the s*** factor, or any other ways. But at some point my will just broke. This game is an exercise in frustration, and in the end frustration subsumes any amount of enjoyment I got out of this game. The game is full of bugs, Discord bug forum is full of bugs, and only a small amount of them gets acknowledged and even smaller about fixed. The devs say "report the bugs", but even after you report it *and provide source code for a mod that fixes it*, chances are the bug will stay in the game for weeks ahead. I don't have patience to wait for months, but some well-known problems have stayed for years, apparently, so make what you will of it. That's the first and the biggest problem. The second, as the dev's community manager eloquently put it in Discord, "this game's elevator pitch is Firefly episode generator". There is a reason I'm indifferent to Firefly as opposed to Star Trek, and it's the setting. This game won't tell you power draw or any other specs for spaceship equipment. It won't tell you how much thrust thrusters produce or how far sensors can detect things. You're supposed to wing it. I don't like it. By the way, I like Rimworld. Rimworld is also a "story generator". It's also a lot, lot, lot better implementation-wise than this game. Don't get fooled by comparison. So there it is. Apparently this game has a deep simulation for characters relations, mental needs etcetc, but it was too arcane for me to figure it out, so I just ignored it. As is the norm for the game, it won't tell you anything, you're supposed to figure things out. Maybe this is not a one-guy-or-small-team-flying-spaceship simulation game but a dating simulator in space with elements of shipbuilding? I dunno. If you want to get the game, make absolutely sure your expectations match what it is.
A beautiful example on how to severly hamper the game by mismanaging priorities. Instead of fixing and improving the core gameplay, the devs seemed to focus on inane additions no-one (or extremely small subset of players) wanted. I don't care if you put pronouns in the game or add flirting, as long as the MAIN content doesn't suffer. But unfortunately in this case it did . I don't want to ad hominem the devs, but in the future please consider making a dating sim as a side project to compensate for the lack of a happy love life, instead of shoving it into extremely complex space scavenger simulator. Maybe some devs DO need a good supervisor to wrangle them and steer them into a productive direction. If you can ignore the social stuff and just focus on the scavenging aspect, go wild. Personally I feel kind of cheated, as during EA the game was being advertised as a seemingly different product. YMMW
This game is an utter mess. All actions are clunky and unresponsive, several mechanics feel hollow and pointless, combat is a joke. The game is insanely intensive on my computer as well. Mainly my biggest problem is I'm just disappointed. The game has decent promises and a neat idea, but it falls flat.
The game needs serious work. How do you ship 1.0 with broken need meters?
I want like game. Like dev other game many much times. Even though want like game, I no like game. Game obtuse. Even obtuse not good enough word and it one of biggest words. UI make you hate self so bad! Make you think it on purpose. Why ship smoking? WHY SHIP SMOKING?! TELL ME HOW DO ANYTHING!!
Clips, videos, and the wiki all show there is more to the game rather than just salvaging derelicts outside the starting system, but the tutorial and 22 hours of gameplay don't show that there is much more than that.
