Bold strategy making a major content update that removes 70% of the content. Very fun to come back to when I was hoping the update would fix the game breaking bugs that I was stuck on BEFORE the update. I want to like this game so much I bashed my head into multiple game breaking bugs before waiting for an update and all it did was fix none of them and nuke all the fun from orbit.
The game was a lot of fun UNTIL they updated it to the newest version of play mechanics. The game is butt now. It seems like someone high up on the production wants to tank the game for nefarious reasons. This game was far superior during the beta then the trash it has become now. Maybe they are leading to something, but I can not fathom how this garbage can be saved. Whomever thought the current version was a good idea deserves to be tarred and feathered.
Update Now I give full kudos to devs who read reviews and feedback then bust their humps to fix issues for their Early Access game - those are the devs that care about their game. And given that it's in Early Access, let me give a little more feedback... The Good List This game's got some sparkle, and it actually has personality as well! • Beautiful artwork and style • Unique gameplay - who would have thought to make Carcasonne a tactical action battler? • Love love LOVE that I can move around the map and plan while the game is paused. Too many games get this wrong and freeze everything when paused. Factorio, how far you've fallen... The Needs Work List Going a little easier since it's early access, but here are some of the glaring gameplay issues I've noticed... • Saving the game then exiting to the main menu and loading the game restarted the level... oof! Yeah, that's a mood killer. • Region map is confusing - how does one area correlate to any other? Selecting one region then randomly highlights other areas, whether they are touching or not, for the next selectable stage. • When using a level 2+ tower card on a castle turret, it's not possible to rotate or select which turrets get upgraded. Very janky! • In some cases, depending on how the castle is built, towers cannot be placed in some turret locations. • On hover or drag, tiles look placeable outside of playable area. Yeah, this may be a little picky. • Exclamation mark doesn't go away even after scrolling through all of the artifacts (subsequently always shows on Encyclopedia too). Annoying but not a game killer. ------------------------------------ This game's kinda like dating a hot girl: it's interesting, looks great, but once you get into it you start to see a bunch of flaws. You want things to work out, but providing feedback is like talking to a stone cold brick wall. Sadly, this game's got some glaring playability issues. My first run, I was able to beat the big blubbery green boss no problem. Started another run and got the boss down to about 2/3 health when he became invincible causing me to lose the round. No worries. Started another run, got to the boss and did 1,331 damage before he became invincible again and whomped me. No explanation, just a super secret "you lose" dynamic built in. Well frickety frick. Went to report the issue as a bug, and after hitting submit was left to ponder the meaning of life for 10 mins while the form tried to submit. Nothing. 3 hours later... the game still hasn't stopped from running after quitting the game. Running version 0.14.1.1
3 hours after I bought this game it got an update, which made it unplayable: card drawing mechanics changed completely, hand rerols doesn't work, Act 2 mobs doesn't take damage and just crush my base. Job well done with the patch!
I really need to stop buying EA games. check the other reviews..
This is not the game that was in the Demo. The flow has completely changed, please look at the promotional material.

I remembered this game fondly, and just saw and thought should try it again but i dunno what happed but i seem to immediately on lowest difficult got stuck in some impossible battle after 2 battles... when i look online it seems campaign mechanic worked alot more different and more interestingly even in the trailer videos.. soo i got no idea what's going on here ... ^^" but seems like botched update perhaps..? The concepts seems so simple based on a certain famous boardgame but the cards have gotten so confusing with so much text.. i dunno why wall has so many stats ... walls have dexterity? nice i guess.. perhaps a bit overdevelopped atp.. Guess i'll revisit this in a year and see again
