About
In Svarog's Dream, the absolute freedom to explore the world and make decisions is yours. However, every action influences the world around you, for better or worse.
You start as a lost soul, inhabiting human hosts who are desperate enough to embrace you. With each death, you revisit the underworld to possess a new body from a selection of unique characters.
While humans wage their wars on Earth, the Gods clash against each other in the sky.
Even with their immense power, they search for a means to gain momentum in their eternal battles. All existence is bound by the threads of destiny.
Except for you.
You have the power of free will, a gift the gods will go to great lengths to persuade to their side.

The old prophecy:
"Svarog, the first god, created six worlds and fell asleep.
In his dream, he created the seventh world, Earth.
Once he wakes up, Earth will cease to exist."
Embrace a living, responsive world filled with emergent stories, while also experiencing over 100 handcrafted quests.
Eat, cook, sleep, craft potions, upgrade gear, buy houses, take loans, and even evade debt collectors or headhunters, among much more.
Create your own character build using abilities from 12 unique classes, and equip them with hundreds of weapons, armor pieces, and accessories.

"We took everything we loved about old-school RPGs and then added a modern twist on top of it all."

To all my Grim Dawn friends, check out this game. It has some similarities to GD like dual classing, open world, crafting and more. I wasnt sure when I picked it up if I would like it, but right now its the game I keep going back to over the other 1/2 dozen I bought during the summer sale. I can see myself sinking some hours into this game.
Never written a review before, but gods damned it's criminal how underrated this game is. What I purchased, expecting to just be a little hit of "Neurodivergent Crack" style game, turns out to be maybe the most profound and thought provoking experience I've played since Disco. Gameplay wise, pretty neat. Clunky as all getout to start with but once you settle in to a playstyle you like you get the hang of it. The progression is what really makes it for me though, I love any game that takes me from sniveling sh*t-heel to slaying entire hordes with a single arrow. Power scaling enjoyers look no further. The world it a treat. Sure, your imagination might be more important than your graphics card for this one, but the regions feel distinct and appropriately challenging or inviting, and filled with enough points of intrigue to make exploration fun and rewarding. The reincarnation system is a really refreshing take on death mechanics. Depending on your choice of avatars on a new life you might take a few drops to the stats, maybe a chance to change a playstyle, or maybe you'll be brought back as a feral hog. The Dharmic wheel ever turns. Performance wise, all I can say is Works On My Machine, which is honestly pretty close to spud-spec in 2026. Yeah there's a few frame drops here and there but they never gave me any grief. Apparently turning off V-Sync makes this game run better. But the real diamond in the rough here is the storytelling. No not the story itself, per se, but the way this game delivers it feels trully brand new. No spoilers, but each story beat is arrives in such a matter of fact, blase manner that the player is almost *forced* to create their own motives, which eveventually plays into the hidden trichotomy of the morality system. Alot of the freedom this game promotes itself with is partly illusory, but it works for it's purpose. This isn't Morrowind, it's a story about the stories we tell ourselves that has real lessons to take into real life. It's not subtle by any means, Diogenes is one of the first characters you meet and challenges you to find a single honest man, but that's ok, subtext is for cowards anyway. TL;DR, Ambitious and unapolagetically philisophical indie title that delivers on way more than you'd expect and then some. On sale for nine Australian Dollarydoos at time of writing so if you're as pretentious as me and don't pick this game up, you are blind the vision of your greater self and will be reincarnated as a lamprey.
Great rpg. Takes a bit of getting used to as it doesn't work quite like any other. Resurrection mechanic is great. Plenty of choice when developing skills. Big open world with very little handholding. Storylines are interesting without being amazing. Overall its something like a cross between an arpg and a full blown story driven one. I highly recommend it with a strong 9/10 and, given that it is so cool I'd also suggest getting it with the expansion right away,
This is one of those games that tries to boast about "difficulty" when in reality it's just brutally unfair and tedious. There is no difficulty, it just punishes you for playing anything but a ranged class, which easily cheese the entire game.. which tells me the dev didn't intend the game to be like this, but doesn't have the ability to properly balance anything. As a result, the dev used their inability to properly balance the archetypes as an advertising crutch. Difficulty is a measure of one's skill. Their ability to adapt to situations and apply appropriate tactics against the situation. Difficulty is NOT "play the most unbalanced builds and cheese the game, or don't progress at all." which SD is plagued with. Definitely don't waste your time or money on this.
The most beautiful game iv ever played. Never thought id say that about an action RPG. The game plays like top down Skyrim/Oblvion. It actually feels like an open living world which I didnt know I could get from a top down arpg. Thank you to the creators for making this <3 You're all amazing .
This game is amazing. Such a great combination of open world exploration and ARPG character building and combat. Scratches multiple itches. Very unique and worth every penny.
Titan Quest with Slavic mythology + Open World with day/night system. Quite the hidden gem.
A friend introduced me to this game because they knew I specifically like this style of ARPG. So I was biased to like it. However, this game far exceeded my expectations. It has interesting mechanics, a compelling story, and more character than it knows what to do with. It has ideas from many games I think perhaps it could be quickest described as titan quest + skyrim with roguelite characteristics. The first thing I noticed is the build system is very much in the vein of titan quest and grim dawn. You earn 3 points per level and spend them on two different class trees. The twist to that build system is that everytime you spawn in you choose a premade character with varied stats and special traits. When you die you have to choose from a selection of characters again, and if you feel it needed, you get a free respec after that choice. This gives you something of a guide in terms of how you want that character to build class wise. It makes for a system where what is the "best" build is circumstantial, as a character with say low intelligence and bravery (source of mana regen) is going to struggle to force a magic build to work. as an example my first character had great dex and peircing training and a bonus to theft so I ran them as a sort of stealth archer build. After their death and another quick interceding death I was given a character with special trait biased to summons so I respec'd entirely to take advantage. Speaking more to the death mechanic in relation to the story is where the games character really shines through. I found it super neat that the ideas of deaths and new game+ were not waved a way as merely part of a gameplay loop but instead are built directly into the story. Because of this the world never has a break in immersion. There is no pause in the narrative for game reasons the narrative and game are fully merged. The slavic myth setting is fun and refreshing as it is not so commonly explored. The games story is compelling with 5 possible endings (with the expansion) and multiple plotlines to get there. The world is very much alive and your actions directly, and in some cases indirectly, shape it permanently. Natural disasters will kill NPCs, Monster hunters will kill a side quest you ignored, and special merchants will wander the map. The only negative I can think of in my first 24 hours of play is that combat can be a bit clunky at times, as the game has a lack of polish in terms of visual effects and movement. I personally found some of the magic attacks from bosses hard to read for example, and a couple of my own spells it a bit tricky to follow at times. It sometimes feels like the combat was maybe imagined to be a bit slower than it was in terms of damage both from the enemies and yourself. You do start to get used to it just don't expect the flowy easy to follow combat of a AAA Arpg. In conclusion for the price tag I think this game has a great dollar value. What little it lacks in polish or visuals it makes up for with ambition and creativity in spades. I highly recomend Svarog's dream especially for people who like Diablo style ARPGs, and people who like choices matter gameplay.
No gamepad support :(
Bought this on a whim and ended up really enjoying it. The world and story were interesting to me which along with the dangers around every corner made exploration actually feel adventurous. You can feel the love that went into this while playing and it is totally worth your time.
