Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Aug 24 → 1.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Occupy Mars is a technical, open-world sandbox, survival game about Mars colonization inspired by the most promising technologies and companies that are working towards the goal of humanity becoming a multi-planet species.
Explore different regions of Mars while searching for valuable resources, discover mining sites, and find the best place to build a city. Remember that you need to find a relatively leveled area with good access to underground water in a place where temperatures don't drop too much during the night.

Build and upgrade your base, craft equipment, mine resources, produce water, oxygen and food, explore an open world, and repair complex machinery in a technical survival sandbox.

Manage your energy production and build your electricity grid. Make sure that there is enough water, oxygen, power, and food to survive.

Fix broken parts using realistic electronic components and tools. Learn the basics soldering, using hot air, measurement tools, and all the details necessary to fix your equipment.

Upgrade your vehicles and equipment in your garage. Organize your workshop and modify your rover. Change crane hydraulics, operate the robotic arm, dig for valuable resources, build mining rigs, and more...

Build greenhouses, oxygen tanks, fuel generators, connect all the pipes and cables, and remember about proper cable management. Grow your own food.

Experience an open-world sandbox game with a realistic day/night cycle and overcome real challenges that colonists face. Build solar arrays and batteries for energy storage, upgrade them, and find the optimal way to power your colony.

Occupying Mars is not always easy. Sometimes things will explode, break or not go exactly as planned. Learn to cope with "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.” Sometimes you have to really act quickly before you run out of air, food, or energy.

...but most importantly HAVE FUN on Mars!

395 Hours on record as of writing this review. Started at 0.154.4 (Feb/2024) > Current. At this time I DO NOT recommend this game. The 1.0.x updates keep coming. The devs ARE trying. I am regretful to say I am disappointed whole heartedly with the 1.0 launch. Having played this through many of its updates with the final mission completion locked behind 1.0 release, currently 1.0.7, has felt like an abysmal failure for my play through. My playthrough has been riddled with bugs: - Quest sequence breaks, - Quest items / progress not spawning in the world, (The Marstruck Incident) - Quest completion detection not triggering: See "Occupy Mars" quest. - GPS markers of 'find xyz at (location) being the wrong location. With dev recommendation in discord being to the tune of 'save and reload, or do it a lot'. - Items spawn into, fall through the map making them unreachable. - Tablet / Science unlocked locked behind Quest completion, with no insight as to why or how to progress forward (Heavy Suit / Kilowatt generator) But this is engine based stuff, quest sequence logic and testing that should of been worked out pre 1.0, or 1.0 should have been delayed further as this is a MESS.

1.0 release barely got anything new. At the same time promised content was cut. The release feels like they are just dumping the game, fixing a few things and moving on. I hope I am wrong, but this is my current impression. Update: After playing further, for anotehr 24 hours. The game only got worse. Ther eis no gameplay loop, massive bug fest and weird restrictions. Textures are also all over the place, some medium quality some extremely low. Balance is also a mess, both cooking and chemistry eats up valuable bottles for example. Game stutters massively when travelling into "new" areas. The tablet unlock is bugged and still a very bad game mechanic. There is no reason to build big or many of the objects at all. As there will always only be you and only you. Game just seems to lack any purpose, any design and in reality also any QA.
The Martian
I actually like this game, which is why it saddens me to mark this as negative but as it stands since the update on the 7th nov 2025 the game is suffering from some serious and game breaking bugs and issues which make it all but unplayable in its current state. the devs are focused on co-op over single player which is a shame and patches are few and far between so unless they really pick up the pace of fixes then i'd give this one a miss.
Personal Rating: Mixed (45%) When I saw the negative/mixed reception, I told to myself that I'll give the devs 4-5 months to fix it. And today I played it. The first thing I see is the character creator that looks decent. After that you land on Mars, and the first thing I noticed is that you legit can't use the middle mouse button to roll across your hotbar. Is this a nitpick? Yes, but I feel obligated to nitpick because the devs had 5 months to do something about it. That being said, after that I lost all my motivation to play, because I can imagine how the rest probably was probably handled.
Game is fun and interesting that could become amazing but currently lacks in so many areas, yes the game is in early dev but why is there so much tech research in the base game when it is totally pointless and unable to be used at all becuase its materials or counterpart tech is in works or physically impossible to attain makes no sense at all. seems that it will be years away from any decent gameplay unsure why game is priced at $42.00 when after multiple years of development there are still so many simple bugs, lack of actual usable content. This game could be something but devs would need jesus or 10 years at their current pace of work rate. would not advise unless heavy sale/discount but be prepared to feel empty after a few weeks of playing
★★★☆☆ Occupy Mars: The Game — 120 Hours Played After spending 120 real hours in Occupy Mars: The Game, I can say it’s a decent survival experience with a lot of potential, but also a long list of issues that really hold it back. What works The atmosphere is great and the early game feels promising. Building your base, setting up power, oxygen, water, and watching everything slowly come together is genuinely satisfying. The Greenhouse and Dome are well-made and probably the best parts of the game. What doesn’t The biggest problem is resource mining. It’s repetitive, slow, and honestly painful after a few dozen hours. Since the entire game revolves around mining, this becomes a serious flaw. There’s no real progression in mining tech, no automation, nothing that makes the process more interesting over time. Base building is also extremely limited. You get a few workbenches, a bed, storage… and that’s basically it. Yes, there are more structures, but most of them feel unnecessary or don’t add meaningful gameplay. Everything ends up feeling like it’s “the same thing in a different shape.” The game desperately needs more engineering, more mechanics, more physics, more chemistry, and generally more depth in its systems. Right now, it’s mostly just mining → processing → building → repeat. The ending The final mission was the biggest disappointment. Building the landing pad and the shuttle took me 10 real hours, and after all that effort I expected an actual launch sequence or at least a cutscene. Instead, the game just throws a plain “Mission complete” message at you. That moment really killed the excitement. Verdict There is a good survival game here, but it feels unfinished. The core loop is too shallow, the mining is exhausting, and the ending is anticlimactic. With more content, more machines, more science, and more variety, this could become something great. But right now, it needs a lot of improvement and proper completion.
