Pretty crazy. Puzzler (of a sort) + idle game + roguelike. Cool style. A bit too hard for the payoff. Check it out!
seems like it could be fun but with the lack of guidance or tutorials, and levels seeming like they're designed to be tedious, not challenging, I'm having a hard time recommending this game.
Its not confusing, you just don't understand it yet.

One of those take-it-or-leave-it games that has a lot of good qualities but doesn't quite cross the threshold into standing out. The original version of this came out 8 or 9 years ago and I remember it being viewed positively, I liked it too but didn't stick with it much. The updated Doppelganger edition was made free to people who owned the original and I downloaded that since it seemed good as a Steam Deck game. It is in fact a good Steam Deck game. Some of the systems are a mixed bag. The disposable card system is great and I like that you can add some stakes to your runs by bringing high value cards with you when you want to go for broke (reaching a new floor or beating a very annoying boss - I don't love the bosses in this). The way you store items like cards sucks, you just have some crypts and unlockable holes that you throw items in. Because you can't filter cards by their stats, you might end up like me and overorganizing all your storage units so that, say, one hole has all the low level bones that, while they're less good for creating minions later on, you can still use them as healing items while one crypt has all your nice cards that you keep running out of space for and then another hole has a bunch of partially used weapons that you can use as a junk run because you're bored. The way these systems interact with each other does show a lot of creativity and care was put into this, it's just a few irritations that push me away from it. Also, I felt the difficulty was a little much but I'm generally not fond of how a lot of roguelites handle difficulty (in this one's case the endgame was my big hang up). I would hate to see this game forgotten because it accomplishes a lot even with its imperfections. At the moment, I have about 45 hours in this that I've enjoyed. I'm not eager to reach the secret ending so I'll be shelving it for now. No regrets though. Worth a shot as far as mysterious action-roguelites go.
This is absolutely one of the worst games I've ever played in my life. There's just nothing good about it. I tried to give it a shot, but there's nothing new (that's good) in this game. Controls are ♥♥♥♥. Visual clarity is ♥♥♥♥. Ninety percent of the rooms are just projectile spam in a game with the worst dodges ever made. The upgrades are not very clear, so they can't be that interesting. What cool ♥♥♥♥ can you describe in two symbols? I have no idea what the meta progress is, despite this being a "rogue-lite".
Great game
This game is torture
The soundtrack and art style are cool and all but I can't justify buying this game for anything other than its achievements to decorate your profile with. Go listen to the OST on youtube or something. It is simply not fun to navigate. Every piece of the game from the gameplay itself to even the menu feels like its working against the player. Gonner 1 came out 5 years before it, feels a decade less archaic and is also 3 bucks cheaper at full price. Go buy that instead if this interests you at all. That said, Nongunz would've probably banged if it came out 10 years before it did. But there were vastly better options for this itch when it came out and even more so now.
