Rogue Legacy 2 is what you'd get if you mashed Rogue Legacy and a sequel together. Every time you die, your children will succeed you, and each child is unique. Your daughter might be a Colourblind Archer, and your son could be a Pacifistic Chef. Either way, one of them is getting conscripted.

So, I said to my nephew, "I really like it. But, who the f plays a game like this til they beat it 8 times?" I think I'm up to 5 or 6 times. Don't take my "hours played" seriously. I used to leave it running in the background. But I've gotta be 80 hours in at least.
Overall a huge improvement on the original. The new classes / weapons add a lot to the variety of a playthrough and the gold increase of negative traits makes them an actually interesting decision to make. Game has a lot of charm with the small snippets of lore you get over the game, and although I prefer the artstyle of the original it feels a lot smoother to play. The heirloom system is a really good change too, I much prefer it over the previous Rune system due to it's limitations. The enchantress is really hot too. need that.
No i-frame doge and enemies are programmed to rush to the player while also spamming projectiles that go through walls and enemies that do really fast charge attacks from off screen. To top it off they also have made half their challenges, fight X amount of enemies while avoiding X hazards and don't take any damage. Interesting ideas but unfortunatly none of them qualify as progression. You very quickly realize the games difficulty scaling far outpaces the power they make available to the player as "progression." So fail or succeed the game gets more difficult, making the former too punishing. Its adequate for the price but don't see myself playing more than 10hours max. I don't think is for me 6/10.
makes me wanna do another run more than any other game simple but challenging levels and enemies are so well designed and hostile to make it very easy to make mistakes over and over again projectiles , enemies, spikes, information overload at all times every corner , every blind fall, dash or jump will equal damage if not paying attention progression is very slow almost incremental like an idle game being you lose all money and can save a little bit with tons of upgrades to grind upgrades do help, but they won't carry you very fun
It is ultra grindy cookie clicker where you must die infinite times to upgrade your character. I don't like it.
I don't remember much of my time with this game cause I haven't played it in a few years. But I remember liking it alot and it evolved mechanics from the OG. And that's good enough for me.
It didn't quite live up to my expectations because it's very similar to the first game, but with some improvements. The level design becomes repetitive, there were not enough types of relics, and there was a point where I was forced to end a run prematurely because I fell out of the world. The constant pizza jokes are annoying and feel out of place. I'm inclined to believe they were added in after, especially since the Vegan trait hurts you when you touch pizza despite saying it only hurts you if you touch meat. The game artificially extends the time it takes to gain enough levels and beat the it. Thus making this game 3 times longer then the first one, but not adding enough content / variety to justify its length. It gets a good review because it was good enough for me to play it through to the end.
King of platformer roguelites! A total game with a lots of things to upgrade, really enjoyable action and endless grind. great game
