Jogo curto. Boa história. Alguns sustos repentinos. Compre quando estiver em promoção.
Beat the game with 85% achievements. A super spooky realistic horror game placing you in a haunted cabin where a witch ghost and little ghost girl haunts. Uncover her mysteries of the haunting, experience her terror and immerse yourself in a ghostly colorful realm full of magnificent surprises
Befriended Curse's environment makes the game 10x scarier because it seems like the forest is watching you. I hate that feeling cause no matter where you go you don't feel safe, even in the house. The witch is pretty freaky as well. The way she can
blend in with the environment
is a super cool concept.
Really enjoyed my time with this short horror game. Just over an hour to complete. Good story told using note and book pickups. Nice use of puzzles and subtlety creepy throughout. A few good jump scares got me!! Works fine on steamdeck with some graphical tweaks. Highly recommended for horror fans
Not my cup of tea. I thought it was a 2.5/5 star indie game
Befriended Curse, developed and published by Yellow Basement Games, is a focused first-person psychological horror experience that embraces the strengths of the walking simulator format while attempting to carve out its own unsettling identity. Rather than relying on complex mechanics or combat systems, the game centers itself on atmosphere, environmental storytelling, and a slow-burning sense of dread. You step into the shoes of Jonathan, a psychology student who takes on what appears to be a routine summer job, only to find himself stranded in a remote forest after his car mysteriously disappears. From that moment forward, the game establishes a tone of quiet isolation and creeping unease that persists throughout its runtime. The structure of Befriended Curse is deliberately intimate and contained. The gameplay revolves around exploration, light puzzle-solving, and uncovering narrative fragments scattered throughout a secluded house and its surrounding woods. There are no weapons to collect and no enemies to fight in a traditional sense; instead, the tension stems from uncertainty and anticipation. Notes, environmental details, and subtle audio cues gradually reveal the underlying story, inviting players to piece together the connection between Jonathan, a mysterious young girl, and a sinister old woman whose presence looms over the experience. This restrained approach works in the game’s favor, as it allows the psychological elements to take center stage without distraction. Atmosphere is unquestionably the game’s strongest asset. Yellow Basement Games demonstrates a clear understanding of how lighting, sound design, and pacing can shape player emotion. Dim hallways, shadow-drenched rooms, and the ambient noises of a forest at night create a persistent feeling of vulnerability. The game avoids overwhelming the player with constant threats, instead opting for carefully timed moments of shock that feel earned rather than excessive. Jump scares are present, but they are spaced out enough to maintain their effectiveness. More importantly, much of the fear arises from what might happen rather than what actually does, which is a hallmark of effective psychological horror. Visually, the game delivers solid environmental detail for an indie production. The house interiors feel lived-in and subtly decayed, reinforcing the idea that something has gone terribly wrong long before Jonathan’s arrival. The forest setting complements this with its oppressive darkness and sense of disorientation. While the graphical fidelity does not aim for photorealism, it achieves a convincing atmosphere that supports the narrative tone. Performance and optimization are generally stable, allowing the immersion to remain intact without technical distractions. The story itself unfolds at a steady pace and is one of the key reasons to continue playing. Though it follows familiar horror themes—curses, lingering spirits, and tragic past events—it manages to remain engaging through its focused presentation. The narrative avoids excessive exposition, instead encouraging players to absorb context through observation. There is an undercurrent of emotional weight beneath the scares, particularly in how the game frames loneliness and unresolved trauma. While it may not radically reinvent horror storytelling, it demonstrates a confident grasp of genre conventions and delivers a cohesive arc within its relatively short runtime. That brevity is both a strength and a limitation. Befriended Curse can be completed in a single sitting, making it an accessible experience for players who appreciate concise horror titles. The pacing rarely drags, and the compact design prevents the atmosphere from wearing thin. However, once the story concludes, there is little incentive to replay it beyond revisiting its tense moments. The linear progression and fixed events mean that most surprises lose their impact on subsequent playthroughs. Players seeking branching paths or deeper mechanical systems may find the experience somewhat limited in scope. Despite these constraints, the game succeeds at what it sets out to do. It provides a concentrated dose of psychological horror that respects the player’s time while delivering genuine tension. The simplicity of its mechanics allows the focus to remain on mood and narrative cohesion. Yellow Basement Games demonstrates clear potential, showing that even with a modest scale, a well-crafted atmosphere and purposeful design can leave a lasting impression. In the broader landscape of indie horror on Steam, Befriended Curse stands as a solid example of how smaller projects can compete through careful execution rather than sheer complexity. It may not redefine the genre, but it offers a memorable and unsettling journey that lingers beyond its brief duration. For players who value immersive environments, narrative-driven horror, and tightly paced experiences, it delivers exactly what it promises: a haunting, self-contained descent into the unknown. Rating: 8/10
