Good Game!!
Very important to know before you buy: No Rest for the Wicked has no form of multiplayer lobby or matchmaking AT ALL. If you want to play with others you better already have their names in mind or be socialable enough to join their discord and ask people to play with you. Other than cutting the legs off the multiplayer that they tout as one of it's greatest aspects by forgetting such a fundamental concept as a...server lobby...it's a great game. However, for me, that is one mortal mistake that makes this entire game a hard-no for me. Devs, fix this and I will change my review.
it sucks where all souls-like have an issue and that is multiple mob pulls, and almost every fight is mulit mob, just not a good time.
Overall its good but the platforming is not, way to much.
how do i get the founder pack rewards?
Dodges don't always go through, even when at full stamina while just walking around. Not trying to dodge in the middle of attacking, but just trying to dodge away when they're winding up a ranged attack and the dodge just NOT happening. At all. Not "it doesn't make me invincible" but "it doesn't even start" being the issue. Camera zooms in when I don't want it to, and zooms out when I don't want it to. Parry system is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Works maybe half the time even when I get timing right because they are LITERALLY 1 CM away from my parry frame, so they weren't going to hit me...until I parry forward into them and they hit me after the parry ends. Or they hit me on the second swing after the parry goes through. IDK I stopped trying to make sense of that. EDIT for the Parry explanation: One enemy using daggers in the first area literally just bypassed parry 3 times to hit me with their second hit even though the first hit went through the parry. And no this isn't a skill issue. My character went through the animation for the parry being successful and they just didn't respond. This happened later, again, with the big axe wielding guy that sets one on fire if he hits. He spun, I parried, my animation for the parry being successful happened, he ignored it and hit me with the second portion of the spin. Maze-like level design wouldn't be so bad if it didn't also include fall damage that gets you killed very quickly when you're expected to jump in multiple places and sometimes you miss. Just because. Or you land and then it sends you into a roll off the edge to your death. yay /sarcasm EDIT: No that's not a complaint about having fall damage. That's a complaint of the camera angle not always facilitating movement correctly and the dodge roll happening if I told the sprint button upon landing. It should go back into sprint, but it doesn't always. So I dodge rolled off the edge to my death multiple times until I figured that out. No maps inside dungeons. Why? "Game design" and "to make it harder" probably. Doesn't make it harder, just makes it more tedious. EDIT: No I don't care if the dungeons are small or I'm not supposed to go into them yet. Spots in the map where I can fall into a neverending void (?). Iona's bloom where the return path just disappears from your vision near the end of the dungeon. Don't remember where it is exactly? Just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fall to your death. Now return to the quest giver who has moved up on a hill and can't be reached without a ladder being moved down that you...can't reach? Like wtf. I'm done at that point. I'm not going to sprint around to find another entrance to the dungeon to reach the quest giver at the start just because I didn't enter the specific way that was intended. I may or may not refund this because the first impression is that it's bad. Edit: went through with the refund. Got the refund. Turning comments off before the morons "um aktually no ur a liar" start coming at me more like the one in the comments already started.
So many well thought out mechanics, transparent development. Overall just satisfying in a lot of ways like discovery and progress, both in your own skill but also storywise and quest-bound.
