Great game. Lots of content. And I mean LOTS of content. TOO MUCH content. WTF STOP!! TOO MUCH CONTENT!! PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE IT STOPPP!!!! If you like having to go through literally hundreds of menus and stat screens, this game is for you. Unfortunately, neither me, nor my friend could be bothered the straight up STUDY required to just be able to play this game. Generally speaking: the combat and character customization are very well developed, but because of the insane amount of trash loot spam and unnecessarily skilltree-ified gameplay mechanics, it is very easy to get overwhelmed by the ridiculous amount of things to process and sorting through it all in order to actually get to the fun part - the fighting - felt like a straight up chore.

Nioh 2 is a hack-and-slash looter pretending to be a Souls-like. While Act I offers a fun initial rush, the illusion wears off pretty quick. By Act II, the game reveals itself as an exhausting grind that prioritizes repetitive loops over rewarding design. The game relies heavily on blatant map reskins and unchanging, monotonous enemies. Instead of introducing fresh environments as you progress. It utilizes artificial difficulty. It simply forces you into tighter, frustrating spaces—like cramped caves and mountain passes—to fight the exact same foes. The combat is okay but highly redundant. It caters to players who like constantly swapping weapons and stances. If you prefer mastering a single weapon and style for a playthrough, this game is not for you. Sure, you could do it, but you won't have the fun it intends if you forego trying other weapons and styles. The massive skill tree is just dress-up. Because of key-mapping limitations, you can only use a few skills at a time. Swapping them in menus is tedious, and the gameplay devolves into glorified button mashing. True Souls games do this infinitely better by attaching distinct identities to the weapons themselves, like the Greatsword Borrowing a Diablo-style loot system, enemies constantly drop random gear. Your inventory stays bloated, forcing you into a tedious cycle of grinding for micro-upgrades just to keep up with enemy scaling. If you dislike grinding for a marginally better version of a weapon you already own, this management feels like a second job. But I have friends that love hunting for the best possible drop. So, each their own I guess. Not for me. The story fails to engage. You play as a silent protagonist who stands around looking like a ree-ree during major plot twists. Without a compelling narrative hook, there is little motivation to push through the mounting gameplay fatigue. In Ghost of Tsushima, same issue - running to the same camps, same quests, same Mongolian enemies - but unlike this, the story is so good it will carry you to its conclusion. Nioh 2 isn't bad, but it isn't anything to write home about. If you love cutting down bad guys and grinding endlessly for gear stats, it is built for you. If you expect meticulous level design, compelling storytelling, and precise combat, you will walk away disappointed by Act II. I am going to give it a "No" because that's the only option and because it really shouldn't masquerade as a souls-like game. It's misleading.
