Reviews
One of the best hack and slash games I've played.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is one of the best 3D Action Games ever made. Do I have your attention? Just needed an opener. So, I am on a Ninja Gaiden journey. Check out my Reviews for each of the Games from the Master Collection, Yaiba - Ninja Gaiden Z and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. Ninja Gaiden 4 is by far my favourite. (I still got Ragebound left to play, I suppose I will like it but it's a different kinda Game.) I played the whole Game and the DLC on Hard for a first blind playthrough. Time for beating the Maingame without DLC: 18:58:03 Time for beating the Maingame with DLC: 20:41:56 32/53 Achievements. If you play this and want to start out, go hard. Not because it is easy but because it will be so satisfying when you beat the Game. In the beginning (Chapter 2 and 3) I was about to lower the difficulty, but I am glad I stuck with it. This Game gives you the feeling of Souls Games when you finally beat a hard boss. Graphically Ninja Gaiden 4 looks very good. It's not the best looking Game out there, but still very pretty. I liked the environments and the level design. I also really liked the Music. Sound Design is excellent as well. As with every Ninja Gaiden Game, I played on Japanese with English subtitles. But the star of the show is the combat. WOW. I was not kidding when I said this is probably one of the best 3D Action Games ever made. It is gory, it is flashy, it is meaty, it is clangy, it can be quite deep to learn, there is lots of weapon variety and every single one feels great to use... Overall this is just a really epic and cool Game. But not because of the story, or cutscenes. Everything epic is happening in the fights. It can be overwhelming and your fingers will definitely get a good workout but there is action almost non stop and you won't have much time to take a breather. Platinum Games knows what they are doing... The DLC was okay in regards of the levels and encounters (basically it's just go straight-arena-go straight-arena-...-boss) and they ramped up the enemies in the encounters drastically. The main thing was the final boss though, I beat it on my second try but oh boy, this was epic. And hard. If not for the levels, just get it for the boss, but only on sale, I think the asking price is a bit too steep. Yeah, story-wise I didn't care that much again but imo it had still the best story out of all the Ninja Gaiden Games. And I know some Ryu fanboys won't like to hear that but Yakumo is a great character. He is as stoic and cool as Ryu but he plays way faster and better. (Don't get me wrong, I also liked the Ryu sections.) Also zero problems with the controls and/or the camera, which is both also the best it has ever been in a 3D NG. I am almost done with my journey, just Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is missing. But I can say that for everyone remotely liking 3D Action Games, NG4 is a must buy and a must play... Slap a number on it: 8.9/10... P.S.: Performance is stellar, no bugs, no hitches, no fps drops, runs smooth as butter...
be absolutely sure you are ready to die multiple times even if you have played under combat heavy difficult games such as soulsborne
