Speaking as someone who enjoyed the first game
My initial impressions of this game were mixed. The story feels like more of the same, with Aluche needing to defeat the Moon Queen or sacrifice the priestess. I did like how they invested more in cutscenes for some scenes, and the game's introduction is quite fun to play. ✦Combat:The combat animations are a bit slower compared to the first game, but you get used to it as you keep playing (though I still prefer the first one in this regard). Despite the slower combat, they compensated with the addition of various combos, interactions with your partners for combo attacks, and the ability to switch weapons using the Servans with that function, which allows you to customize gameplay. ✦Bosses:The bosses are much more creative since they tried to introduce some puzzles during the fights, which gave the battles more personality, considering the first game was more straightforward (go to a place, hit the boss until it dies). ✦World:I believe the exploration has improved significantly compared to the first game. They enhanced the map, and now you have reasons to choose specific Servans when you set out to explore since there are obstacles that require certain Servans to overcome, which is quite interesting. ✦Music: The music in the game is great, but unfortunately, not all tracks are as memorable as those from the first game, as they don't match my style as much. The soundtrack from the first game was all epic, fast-paced, and immersive, while the music in this game is nice but, in my opinion, has a few forgettable tracks. ✦Final Thoughts:Even though the game mechanics are cool, I feel it's a bit limited. In the first game, you could choose up to 4 Servans to accompany you, and they had unique and useful abilities for any playstyle, and combining their abilities was one of the strongest aspects of the game. In the second game, although there are puzzles and more uses for the Servans, I find the combat a bit monotonous because it doesn't allow you to mix the powers well to create interesting combos without having to stop and summon the Servans (and when combined with the slower attack animations, it creates a break in the pacing that bothers me a bit). The game gives you hints about the story details without directly telling you what happened in the game's world (through character affinities and the DLC story, which adds motivation for the main villain and the context before the protagonist fights her), which is cool but also forces you to play through it all to get a full understanding. I think it's a great game if you consider picking it up on sale and playing without high expectations—you might have fun. But since you need the context from the first game to fully understand this one (as there are many references to the first game), it's better to buy the first one, which remains my favorite."
A game with an interesting ARPG mechanic that drags on for too long and a story that is not told properly. Night of Azure 2 have the ingredients to become a great game. It just wasn't put together correctly, making it mediocre, even compared to the game that came before. The characters are interesting and well designed, but we barely learn anything about them, even with an entire game mechanic based on getting to know your comrades better, you learn nothing important, only superficial stories while all of the interesting backgrounds that has been set up are not told, even to the end. The story is interesting. At least the set up of it is. But it is not told well, with emphasis and time given to too many inane scenes, while story content are not given its due focus, making supposedly emotional moments lack any kind of impact whatsoever. There could have been a good story, but none of it can be found here. The combat and gameplay are fun, but by forcing players to keep repetitively playing the same stages over and over again to grind sidequests with no changes to the stage, even Nier Automata level of gameplay will become stale overtime, and this is definitely no Nier Automata. Disappointing and mediocre. That is all that this game is.
muito bom!!!
🎮 Reseña de Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon

[th]Aspecto[/th][th]Puntuación (0-10)[/th][th]Comentario[/th]

Jugabilidad7Acción sólida; cumple y entretiene sin reinventar nada.

Dificultad / IA6Correcta; más “pasable” que brillante.

Contenido7Entre historia, exploración y sistemas, hay buen paquete.

Gráficos / Video6Anime 3D cumplidor; no esperes milagros técnicos.

Disclaimer: This is a re-review as gave the game another shot and played to 100% completion. To 100% this games achievements took me 28 hours without a guide (bar looking up like 3 things) and was rather easy, there's next to no RNG and some grind to it.
Positives:
+ Character models for all heroines very well made/animated and all have lovely outfits and swimsuits to choose between, swimsuits are very well designed. + [strike]Whoever sculpted Camilla's left leg and put her in an asymmetrical bikini needs a raise.[/strike] + 'Game feel' is solid, most controls do what you want when you want, menus tend to be snappy. + Side stories with maidens (through gaining lily ranks with each) tie into main story and have strong narratives themselves, gameplay and story often genuinely better than most of the main story missions. + New game +, in which a full gallery unlocks with concept art and voice actor demo/intro(?) reals, you can also carry over most progress bar levels for characters/Servans. + Quite nice looking, has lots of pop in but to be honest post-processing effects tastefully done and assets/animations all solid, always pleasing to look at. I will say visuals are perhaps a tad heavy on the GPU relative to quality (~50% on a GTX 1070 at 1080p 60fps) but I'll take the lack of TAA smear as an even-out.
Neutrals:
* Servans massively fumbled, each has multiple detailed 3D models for different evolved forms and a wide variety of differing abilities such as turning into weapons, additional attacks or helping with navigation. It's the last part that's the problem, only 5 Servans help with navigation and you have 2 slots so it's near mandatory to use a mix of those 5 and ignore the rest. Compounding this is the resource you get to level up Servans comes drip-by-drip, doing a 100% playthrough lets you maybe fully evolve and level 1 Servan. After 100%-ing the game and actually using Servans as desired not as required makes the game immediately more fun. * Mandatory heroine partners are a mixed bag as many interject with forced cut-away cut-scenes to do special abilities getting the camera reset. They also take up a slot servans could have had it seems, 2 Servans just not ideal compared to 4 in the 1st game. * Music is pretty pleasant background music, massive downgrade from the 1st game and below average for an action game, but never 'bad', the ice palace has a nice tune you'll probably fine 1 or 2 solid ones. * Story is okay, better with side missions with heroines for sure. it has pacing issues though, it's paced like an action game but with scenes/story-telling from a JRPG, this means it feels like its cramming in a lot of scenes back to back that don't always say a whole lot. * Level design is pretty solid but misses inter-connectivity from 1st game (can't without resseting to base move between levels). It gets out of your way and lets action take focus and also avoid trap of making every combat arena a circle, you do sometimes have to think about space you're in and to not get self snagged on walls/traps. It does really on red rooms a bit much (have to defeat all enemies before can progress) but this is only on 1st play of a level and is only obnoxious in the ice palace.
Negatives:
- Technically this game is a mess, had 11 crashes in 40 hours, consistently for 2 causes: transition to non level-exit/enter load screen (chapter starts, between cut-scenes) or during cut-scenes with the 3 popes. As soon as you're back in the lobby after a mission save as I lost most of my playtime by activating the literal 1st scene on re-entry. - Skipping through scenes only possible on new game +, wouldn't say this is 'negative' normally but when combined with the aforementioned crashes... - Time limit system is just not good, Final Fantasy XIII lightning Returns is my favourite JRPG/action game (I know, I know) but this game just gets it all wrong. New game + completely undoes any restrictions so it doesn't even respect itself, basically making your first playthrough a tutorial for the 'real' 2nd playthough, at least can use it to get the bad ending. - Way too many level up systems, usual skill tree nonsense with +2% buffs (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay) plus normal RPG level stats + lily ranks for heroines + Servan points to buff Servans by like 5% after few missions + equipment that you can enhance for 2% buffs oh what fun! I felt the 1st game balanced its JRPG leanings well with the action focus but this game just slaps on anemic diet RPG systems from a Dynasty Warriors game. - I genuinely cannot over-state this enough, the bosses in this game are perhaps THE worst I have ever seen in an action game, and that includes decent games with terribad bosses (Sonic Heroes), not sure if as bad as Cyberdimension Neptunia. I could take 1 gimmick boss but a boss that's just turning mirrors who cannot attack you? not sure about that one, you can stun lock many bosses and they sort-of can you for a brief period. Multiple bosses I could cheese (take no hits and not have to move) by hacking at them in a corner with Camilla stun-locking them with bullets. They're not hard bosses, or even long or too tedious, it's more they are genuinely embarrassing. Sound design and animation also falls off a cliff during them, no matter sound settings voice clips are WAY too quiet and seem positioned wrong, the background music over powers immensely.
TL:DR:
Throughout this game I had a thought of 'who'd they farm this game out too?' as it felt nothing like the 1st or any other Gust game, I guessed it had Omega Force/Dynasty Warriors staff on duty as this game was made not long after Koei Tecmo bought Gust. Wasn't until the credits found I was probably half-right, this game seems mostly the work of Koei Tecmo Taipei and some other Koei Tecmo branches according to the credits and it feels it. Like a Dynasty Warriors game stripped back and wearing a Nights of Azure skin. It's not bad, certainly not insulting (bar the crashes), but it's also a mess and doesn't have much of a punch like the first did with its music, creative level themes and actually solid bosses and Servan systems. I'd say this game is a low-mid 5/10, low for the crashes. Due to the price and inferiority to the 1st game in most ways cannot recommend easily, I don't mean this review as "do not buy" just an 'I can't recommend to anyone interested'.
Awesome game. One of the few games similar to Castlevania Curse of Darkness out there. My only Criticisms are that most of the outfits are not great and the one outfit I did like needed to be modded in as it was one of the many exclusive outfits(the fatal frame outfit). In the same vein there doesn't seem to be a way to access the pre-order dlc. Aside from that I wish Servan points would carry over in NG+. Definitely enjoyed the game and it was worth the time.
Buy a controller before playing this game, guys
