I love this game so much but it is not as easy as The Witches Prison. It's in all aspects, an adventure game. It doesn't have action sequences , which anyone who truly knows adventure point and click games will understand. It is full of written journals and back ground information which I KNOW the average player often overlooks. That's too bad as it is WITH the background info that the story is fully realised. It is a game to enjoy for the story, the puzzles(some of which are BRUTAL but not impossible). It has an AWESOME journal / photo system; the game takes pics of every clue that is discovered that might be important so we, the player have it handy. The story is explained as we progress through the journal too. Great back ground music; not intrusive but I felt it added another dimension to the game. Almost forgot to mention, the HUMOUR is delightful too........ I really wish the game developers had made a third sequel. Although it ends satisfactorily, there is more to the story....
What an odd game... Normally I play entire point and click games without any help or walkthroughs...well rarely at least, but this game was something else. I felt I was absolutly more interested in the story of the game, than many of the puzzles. There was also alot to read, so I'll guess I kinda got impatient (for a really patient guy normally). Because of the lack of achievements (I am happy for that this time), it was simpler to just push the hint button frequently or skip a puzzle, just to see the story....I tend to want to know how I solve a puzzle though, but a few of the minigames in this game I couldn't understand. So frustrating. In the end. I like that there was a good story, many fun puzzles, and a few horror elements. I'm gonna end it here with something weird. Whenever I started the game or alt tabbed, the game had to reload every single time. It didn't take a second, but almost half a minute each time, and that is really strange for a point and click game. The first game in this serie took only one second. I'll guess computer power doesn't mean a thing for this game. Recommend buying these two "Nightmare adventure" games in a bundle. If I am not wrong there will come more games in this serie, so watch out that too.
Don't buy, game has numerous bugs and the developer doesn't respond.
This game was good! I love science-fiction mixed with fantasy. Honestly, it has a little bit of all genres. What can I say other than cheers to the developers of this series? I love Kiera Vale's adventure and I would want to know the rest of her story. For understanding of the plot, you need to play Nightmare Adventures: The Witch's Prison first and then The Turning Thorn. This game comes right after the main events. So, without further ado, I will list the good list and then the bad list. PROS: - Intriguing plot with mystery and suspence; - Realistic backgrounds and outwordly worlds; - Journal entries; - Photographic clues; - Various puzzles with diversified difficulty modes. CONS: - No fast travelling map; - No Steam achievements; - No trading cards. Of course, I'm not here for the achievements or for cards. I am here for the story and this, by far, is the best story I've participated in since True Fear: Forsaken Souls Part 2. Congratulations!
It starts where the first part ended. It has a few improvements in the user interface. As in the first game you have to solve many puzzles and riddles to reveal mysteries and continue in the storyline. A big advantage of this part of Nightmare Adventures is the over voice that I missed in the first part. My rating: 7.6/10
This is the second of two games that go with each other. I absolutely love the story which is why I have replayed this and the other one at least two or three times since I got them. I also love the supernatural elements and magic mixed with sci-fi elements yet set in 'modern times'. I would love to play more games with these elements combined. I love horror, sci-fi, fantasy, together all set on earth and in modern times. It also has a mystery and puzzle element to it without being a HOG. Although I love HOGs, I love others too. So, these genres combined and the intriguing story and the developed characters are the reasons I continue to play it and will replay it many times in the future. I loved the style of the journal (also known as the PDA) and the use of photos taken by camera to help solve things without solving them for me. The game IS a few years old though and the graphics are ok but I loved that everything focused on the story and characters without getting sidetracked. All of this is true for both of these games. I would love to find more games like these two. I highly recommend these two games which don't cost a lot of money for such enjoyment.
The sequel to Witches' Prison, The Turning Thorn plunges you into the secrets of A.R.C.A.N.E. as they try to use Kiera Vale for their own ends. Decent game, worth playing. Buy the Nightmare Adventures bundle, though, as the first game helps you understand parts of the backstory better.
