The game is majestic. I can hardly remember something that gave that much positive emotions. Not thrill or something like that but the inner warmth. It's truly a masterpiece of a fairytale. The plot was not as good as in the first part. But the atmosphere was so good that I didn't take that into consideration. Also kingdom development feature is just AWESOME!!! I want more games to have such addicitive and well-thought meta gameplay Downsides? As I said, the plot is much less deep and inventive as in the first game. DLC sucks but that's not a problem of a main game. In general, great expirience. My almost 100hrs in the game tell that I did really enjoy it!

After 100+ hours of active gameplay I think it's a fairly fun and enjoyable game. I would recommend it to players, however I would give the following critiques... Getting into the game and getting invested can be a HUGE endeavour as it's really slow going for the first say... 15 hours. Get past that and you're cooking with gas. The crafting and equipment aspect of the game does leave a lot to be desired, mainly because you can't break old gear down for parts or more importantly add your own choice of traits to them. You get several characters for your party but there's no real intrinsic benefit to rotating anyone making 50% of the options pointless beyond cosmetic. Spell enhancement is insanely annoying as you're forced to go through each level, meaning you repeat the same 3 screens over and over. There's a render bug in the procedural dng's that mean you can walk through a wall without realising only for it to render after, trapping you in place. There's no "Unstuck" option and you can't reload because those areas are save disabled meaning you MUST restart them from the beginning. The bug's been around for years and is well known, so unlikely to ever be patched. In battle, you control 1 of 3 in your party, the AI manages the other 2. For the most part it does a really good job but it has a huge problem with spamming all thier mana until it hits 0. This becomes a huge problem if your character is knocked out and you need their spells for resurrection (a full MP spell) or shielding (1/5 spell). Grinding can actually be fun in this game however, which is a rare achievement for a game to pull off and there's a mini-game / side quest chain around kingdom battles which, after you learn how it works, can be quite a fun break from the normal gameplay, which is another surprise. To wrap up, while the game is enjoyable, I don't think it's worth the retail price of £50s, especially with the DLCs bringing that price up to £70 in total. Purely because of the above hard spots and in comparison to other titles in this genre. I'd argue the game is a strong contender for the £35 price point and I'd bring the DLC down to £15 in total which would make the entire package £50. As a final point, it's good to see another strong title in this genre from Level 5 Inc, they previously made Dark Cloud which was remarkable for it's time (still play it from time to time, even to this day). However, the follow up of Dark Chronicle was a pure disappointment for a sequel title. Seeing they've developed this was a pleasure to discover. Happy gaming.
