Neyyah

Inspired by Riven? No, it has nothing of what made Riven such a wonderful experience. I'm so disapointed. Don't by this game.

I've just finished Neyyah. It's great, almost RIVEN. These games are for deep explorers. For those who only want to discover new worlds for the pleasure of seeing new artefacts, imagining how they work and trying to solve logical puzzles. The graphics are excellent and the puzzles (except for one) can be solved using logic. Es un juego para exploradores solitarios. Aunque inicialmente el método de apunta-click está en desuso , al final resulta muy útil para no perderte revisando ubicaciones que no te llevan a nada. Un conjunto de mundos conectados por portales y una historia por descubrir. Los gráficos y el ambiente muy conseguidos. En la línea del mítico RIVEN, con puzles lógicos. Se agradece que tiene mapas que ayudan a ubicarte y un diario que te apunta observaciones. Espero que sea suficientemente largo.

TREMENDAMENTE COMPLICADO Y EXTENSO MAS QUE MYST

tl;dr: good game, cool world, fun puzzles, mid af story, WAY too much exposition & lore-dump. This game is verbose to the point of absurdity. At least the game does a decent job (at least in theory) following Riven's blueprint of making you engage with the world to solve the puzzles. I do not regret playing this game, but good god there is so much unnnecessary reading. The game feels a need to completely overexplain everything which completely kills all pacing of exploration, intrigue and sense of discovery and speculation about the world, while at the same time failing to make me care about any of the characters or understand the full scope of the story. Ironically, despite its overly flowery text it comes across as quite dry and unengaging, while something like the seemingly dryer-written text in Riven is full of character and drama. I understand the basics about the good guys and the bad guys and some of the aspects of the world but everything feels so needlessly convoluted and confusing. They throw an insane amount of terminology at you straight from the get-go and it's so easy to get completely lost and overwhelmed by it. It made me kind of check out at some point and become less engaged in the puzzles since the game felt a little impenetrable at times because of it despite the quite clear sign-posting (something which is all too clear in hindsight). I ended up looking up a few things because of it that I think I could have figured out had i been more engaged in the world. I just kinda wanted to get on with it at some point rather thane xist in the world and figure out more of its mysteries. This review has been quite negative but overall I did enjoy the game and would recommend it. I might do a second playthrough at some point to see if I can understand the story a bit better and maybe enjoy it more, but I know that's something I never had to do with Riven, the story and characters in that game are clearly conveyed and immediately captivating. P.S. the acting kinda sucks as well too but at least it's kind of funny bad. Still, doesn't help with my struggle to take the story seriously.

Three endings? Didn't know that and most importantly didn't know the end was coming (too late to save). I wanted to like Neyyeh as a fan of Myst-style games (I've played them all). This is tedious, 20 pages journals (mostly un-readable), Back and Forth between locations for very little gain. The story is so convoluted, The space bar is supposed to indicate "clickable" items, it does not always do so. Spose I could go back to my last save point and get a more favorable ending, but no, I've had enough.

Overall a lot of fun though a few of the clues can be difficult to sort out or notice.

Top game !
