I hate that I can't like the game. As a life long Alaskan born and raised I wanted to like the game. Honestly it treads very little if any new ground at least in the first hour, the characters struggle a great deal near ledges frequently glitching out. the game play visuals are excellent and smoothly animated. The colors are vivid and nice to look at. the music and other audio, especially the voice over, are solid. The game play and story I'm afraid are just not compelling.
Positive Review of "Never Alone" (Kisima Ingitchuna)

"Never Alone" (Kisima Ingitchuna) is an adventure platformer developed by Upper One Games and released in 2014. The game offers a deep and educational experience, immersing players in the rich culture of the Inuit. Here is a helpful and positive review that highlights the most notable aspects of the game: Narrative and Culture One of the greatest strengths of "Never Alone" is its ability to convey the culture and traditions of the Inuit in an engaging and respectful way. The story revolves around a young Inuit girl named Nuna and her spirit fox, who embark on a journey to save their village from an endless storm. The game not only features a captivating narrative, but also integrates elements of Inuit mythology and folklore, providing a unique opportunity for players to learn about this rich cultural tradition. The “Kisima Ingitchuna” (meaning “Never Alone” in Inupiat) are interwoven throughout the game, with short, explanatory videos that appear as the player progresses. These videos provide historical and cultural context, increasing players’ understanding and appreciation of Inuit traditions and stories. Design and Setting The visual design of “Never Alone” is notable for its beauty and authenticity. The game uses an art style reminiscent of traditional Inuit illustrations, creating an immersive and atmospheric environment. The icy settings and carefully crafted details help create a sense of connection with nature and the challenges of the Arctic. Gameplay and Collaboration The gameplay is based on a clever combination of platforming and puzzle-solving. Players control both Nuna and her fox, each with unique abilities that are essential to overcoming obstacles. The game fosters a sense of collaboration, as players must switch between the two characters to solve puzzles and advance the story. This gameplay design is not only fun, but also reflects the game’s central theme of interdependence and teamwork, both important aspects of Inuit culture. The game can also be played in local co-op mode, allowing two players to work together, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and connection. Educational and Social Impact “Never Alone” has a significant impact as an educational tool. By integrating cultural and folklore elements directly into the gameplay, the game provides an immersive experience that is both entertaining and informative. It helps raise awareness of Inuit traditions and the importance of preserving them, while also providing a positive and authentic representation of the culture. Furthermore, the game was developed in collaboration with the Inuit community, ensuring a respectful and accurate representation of their stories and traditions. This not only enriches the player experience, but also helps support cultural preservation. Conclusion “Never Alone” is more than just a game; is a celebration of Inuit culture and an opportunity for players to connect with a rich and meaningful tradition. With its engaging storytelling, stunning visual design, and collaborative gameplay, the game offers an entertaining experience that is both educational and inspiring. For those looking for a way to explore and appreciate different cultures while having fun, Never Alone is an excellent choice. I hope this review helps capture the positive and helpful essence of Never Alone!

A mini-masterpiece, very educational and full of soul. I loved the videos. I didn't find it too difficult. Feels like it would be a fun game for families to play together.
Contols in this game are made with the sole purpose of annoying the player and testing their patience.
Never Alone didn’t evoke any strong emotions in me, but I wouldn’t say I disliked it either. If you’re considering playing it, think of it as a folklore-based story game that offers insight into Inuit culture, and don’t expect much more than that. At its core, it’s a platformer, but the mechanics are quite simple and unsophisticated. The controls can feel a bit clunky and buggy at times, though I didn’t encounter any major issues. You can play it in co-op (which I did), and I recommend doing so - it makes the gameplay more engaging, as you’ll need to help each other. What I appreciated most were the video insights about Inuit culture and history. They taught me a lot about Alaska and added depth to the overall experience.
Sadly I can't recommend this game for solo play. I haven't played it with someone else so I can't say anything about that. I keep having issues with the game giving me control over both characters at once instead of only one character. You should be able to switch between characters, the character you're not playing being controlled by the game. When I get control of both characters the game is unplayable because one of them will easily fall to their death of drown. A hard quit out of the game and restarting will solve the issue for a little while so I tried to power through it. After having to hard quit for the 3rd time at the same point I gave up. It's just not playable for me. As this is not a new game I don't think they'll ever be able to fix this issue. I'm sad that I could't play the rest of the game as it looks really nice, the characters are cute and the story is interesting.
I bought it to play as a cute little fox, half way through the fox turned into an ugly boy 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND
I didn't like the controls - the reaction to press was slow and laggy. The plot is also not really interesting.
