7.5 / 10 Using 18+ Patch
Pretty cool game from the creator of 9-nine- and Liminal Border. It might appear light-hearted at first glance, but it actually has pretty much everything possible, because Kazuki Fumi writes thrilling mystery, funny comedy, and touching drama. It's not perfect, and I'd wish for better side routes (go straight for Kotori during your first playthrough and think about the rest later) and better foreshadowing for the culprit, but overall it's still a strong emotional story
Nanairo Reincarnation was something special. At least to me. It perfectly blends lewd and sometimes juvenile, but genuinely good humor with beautiful, tragic and sad moments that make me tear up. It's on the slightly shorter side of VNs. I want one thing get out of the way right off the bat. I didn't outright dislike anything about the game. It's not to say I don't have small nitpicks, but this is still a very high praise. For starters, the MC, while quite capable, likeable and relatable, he's also not too interesting, so he's not very memorable. Sadly, the other characters lack depth as well. They're all simple with little to no character development. The story also abruptly stops at one point for a while, but fortunately that doesn't last too long. That's all. And in my opinion this is all excusable. Sure, it always helps to make characters more interesting by giving them more depth, but letting the player understand them is just as important and no matter how deep or tragic a character is, it's meaningless if they're not relatable or likeable. The game nails this part. For example, I even adored Aoi, who's very lazy and sometimes pretty rude and selfish, a stereotype I usually hate. Yet somehow, I ended up loving her. One of the two things that truly shines in this game is the balance between drama and humor. I loved it. Sure it's lewd and you can argue that it gets way too horny at times (though I'd argue that in contrast, there aren't as many H-scenes as you'd expect which isn't good or bad), but considering the lore (which the game has a decent amount of thankfully, also genunienly interesting) and context, it all fits well. It's not like I laughed out loud when reading these jokes, but I ended up smiling more often than not. It's just a lighthearted fun writing I love to see. In contrast, there are some sad and tragic scenes that made my chest feel tight and I even teared up a few times. You feel for these characters and you genuinely care about them. But it also knows how and when to ease the tension and it very rarely missed the mark. The second best thing in my opinion is the endings and how the game handles them. They're all very different and I felt very satisfied with all of them, though there is one or two bittersweet ones amongst the 5 possible endings, depending on how you, personally view them. I generally dislike bittersweet stuff, but I wasn't torn this time. Especially the 3 other endings made me feel happy and after finishing the last one my first thought was... damn, this was a great read. It knows how to make you happy and leave you with a satisfied smile. The story also has some shocking reveals I personally didn't see coming. They really didn't feel forced and they just made everything more interesting. Be warned that it has some disturbing CG (dismembered body parts), so if that bothers you, avoid this one. Though keep in mind, that this is by no means a horror game. I really want to keep talking about the game, but it's best if you experience it yourself. It's great. It conveys emotions extremely well that it instantly hits you, it knows how to lay back and have fun, the art is beautiful, the music is great, the opening has one of the most soulgrabbing piece of music I've ever heard, I can seriously just keep shower this game with praise. This game has a soul and now it's one of my favorites for sure!
언젠가 다시, 당신의 연인이 될 수 있기를
A heart whelming VN. Is worth it.
Я восхищен данной работой, очень качественное эроге начиная с сцен и заканчивая музыкой, тут вы успеете и посмеяться и поплакать, как по мне новеллка заслуживает куда большего внимания
I love this visual novel. But I again must comment on the dyeing of black hair to become blonde. Kurokami (black hair) must be bleached to become Kinpatsu (gold or blonde) hair. Sometimes the wording is awkward because the writer will use a word that isn't correct or one that conveys the wrong idea. Umu (yes, right, yep, uh-huh, good, etc.) is translated as harumph, which is jarring and does not feel right. Iyo is not Sheogorath. The writer treats the reader like they are some idiot who cannot understand any Japanese whatsoever and writes whatever they think is "cool." Unfortunately the R18+ patch isn't working for me so I missed out on the action.
Lacks stakes. Half of the main cast is obnoxious. The audio balancing is terrible, sometimes a character's dialog will be 10x louder out of nowhere. The fact that the main character needs to
get his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to summon new demons
is such a contrived way to force H-scenes. Thought I would at least like, but not love this VN during the first half, but the conclusion to every route is so drawn out that I was wondering how much longer I would have to read for the whole last third of my playtime. 4/10
That is a tough one for me
On the one side I really loved the story(telling) and the music, on the other hand I had my fair amount of hardship with the UI. The ui and control felt kind of clunky to me. I missed a few options, like the option to change the font (size) and I missed the disable option to forbid the "skip unread text"-button. After 2-3hrs I got used to the ui so it wasn't a big issue anymore. I also didn't like the missing "gestures" or the ability to select more than one shortcut. The best option of this game was the "jump to next unread text/day"-button, because there are a few repetitions in the story. The art wasn't bad but I can't say for certain, that I loved it, for me it missed something I can't put in words, but like with the ui i got used to it after a few hours. I do consider it a good looking graphic. The music was good, it wasn't astonishing but still fitted the scenes and the story. The story was really good written and interesting, it kept the tension of the story alive till the end and I had never the feeling it get bored, but more like I wanted to know what is happening from now onwards. The VN is about Makoto who takes over the mysterious job of his grandfather who was a "spirit detective" or more like someone who sent spirits to the heaven, who kepts roaming around in the living world. Nanairo Reincarnation won the 2014 Moe Game Awards Second Place, so don't expect a first place Visual Novel, it has his flaws but it is still a novel I would consider readable and playable.
