Hello Goodbye is a visual novel whose story occurs in a Japan divided into 3 different countries, with the protagonist being a solder from one of them, being tasked to do an important mission in another. To do that, he must infiltrate a school, where he eventually gets to know a few ladies, and the story falls into your cookie cutter romance story after. I am not a big fan of the plot. I would not say politics and military, and the laidback years of schooling, are not miscible with each other, but I would say the end result in the novel is that they do appear to be so, with either not being well executed, on their own, or together. Little background is provided in how the country broke down, or it eventually became united again in the end, and the political-military side of the story feels more like an afterthought to the romantic school life of a school student that is not even a student to beging with. Being a harem game obviously the focus is in the romance with the girls, which on its own is decent enough, while not being particularly great. The story does have good character development, but the ladies are mostly monotone. Then there is the fact almost everyone appears to be overly naive and unaware - i.e. no one knows one of the girl characters is the daughter of an important politician, the same girl cannot differentiate intruders from guests, another girl is yet another soldier/spy from another place supposed to be spying on the protagonist yet easily blurts out secrets in front of him... The story is relatively straight in that few choices are provided, eventually directing to a romantic route with one of the female protagonists. Do note that a restart will be necessary to complete all 4 routes. There are no bad endings in this game, which is a missed chance in my opinion in a story that is replete of danger material. The writing itself is decently translated and easy to understand, and the voice acting is well done and enjoyable to listen to. The artwork is decent and well drawn, with a lot of CGs included. Rather enjoyable to look at, and comparatively speaking much better than the story itself anyway. There is a good assortment of music, over 30 of them, that are overall well composed. There is also a few voiced and well arranged voiced songs. While they mostly fit with the story at hand, the tracks tend to be on the cheesy, happy or campier side, and a few more to convey dangerous or sad moments would have been appreciated. Finally, there is a mini game, about finding a hidden cat somewhere in a background image, which would be ok if it were for the fact it is very unforgiving, resulting in being rather tedious and botched just like the story. For the price and the content offered, I do find it overpriced. I do still give a passing score, but just barely. I do recommend getting it on sale. 6/10.
The only thing i love from this vn is its soundtrack/bgm. The plot is average, but if you like spy main charcter, political and military theme, you may like it.
Koharu bestes mädchen.
Eh I'm kinda wishing steam had a rating for neither recommend nor not recommend. Disclaimer, I've not finished the novel but this is one of a few novels I have a strong feeling I'd never finish. I've gone through 2.5 routes but I've never brought myself to continue all 4. The main problem stems from the fact that after that frankly pretty interesting common route, the character routes so far just don't provide any great insight to exactly how it happened. Given that there is a locked route, it might contain most of the answers, but if the novel forces you to read 3 routes it'd better be some sort of great payoff to justify pretty mediocre routes. I just never brought myself to finish them. Back in the day you'd probably couldn't go wrong with this but given how many more novels there are now that are better in both the Moe and Plot aspects there isn't really a reason to recommend this over others.
After clearing Suguri's route, I realized to never lie that you don't know them because you do. Never hide your childhood or past to anyone. After all, your still gonna get friends. Friends that will count on you, friends that will support. If you need any help, ask your friends. They are here for you.
For those that know NekoNyan - Yes it is their usual quality and For those people of culture - /wink https://nekonyansoft.com/shop/product/19 For the rest ---- Hello, Goodbye - is a very well done VN from NekoNyan. While i usually don't have sounds on for these sorts of games. The voice acting for this one and music and sound design for this VN was top notch. The writing and story was very well done and with the nice twist of a sorta sci-fi element that you learn more and see how the different routes all tie into one another by playing the other routes. The girls and other characters are fleshed out nicely and are very consistent throughout the story. The Dad character for our MC is a true hero among heroes in this game /salutes. If you are a fan of a good romance or good scifi VN this is a must have. It was kinda shocking how few reviews this title has for the quality it has. A great enjoyable game.
Honestly I wasn't expecting much out of this visual novel, but it really surprised me. I didn't expect to enjoy the VN as much as i did. Yeah i was expecting more action and what not. But what i did get was still something that i can recommend to other people as the story overall wasn't bad. The shining part of this visual novel is the characters themselves. Every single character and there route were a breath of fresh air. Even Side characters were enjoyable in this game. If I had to give a choice on which routes i found the best, it was probably Suguri and May's. Natsume route was done well, but if i were to compare it to the others i think they did it a lot better than Natsume route. (Addition Koharu Route is most likely the True Ending route and was really well written and tied up the story really well.) So my overall Score for this VN will be a 7.5/10. Although this VN was an enjoyable read it wasn't anything spectacular. Kyouie~
