About
BLACKSHARD is a first-person exploration game. Wander
through a strange megastructure, the Labyrinth, to unravel its
mysteries. Your behavior within the Labyrinth defines the
outcome of your journey.
BLACKSHARD is a visual and narrative experience, a dreamlike journey
into uncharted liminal spaces. You will roam strange places,
endless corridors and unreal architectures, encountering mysterious
figures that have been forgotten for ages...
What path will you take?

Explore a unique semi-open world. Find your own way through the
Labyrinth.
Find shards of memory from those who came before. Accept the order of
things or choose a different path.
Interact with your environment. Transform the Labyrinth with
unspeakable powers, or preserve its cold complexity.
Beware. You were not made for such a journey.

"I waited for a time that cannot be told.
The Labyrinth is a dull, sterile and ordered space. It is the embodiment
of time and causality. The harbinger of the Tyranny of Fate.
I played my part. I watched over the Labyrinth. I resisted the whispers.
I did not intervene. I did not count the unclean numbers.
But the Sign promises. It offers."

When I think of Sacred Geometry, this game will be forever carved into my psyche. Truly a beautiful masterwork of level design and traversal. This game will be in my benchmark suite for OLED testing, absolutely beautiful HDR mastering and perfected graphic design. Has one of the absolutely visual stunning levels I have ever seen on a calibrated OLED, I legitimately had to stop and just observe. Absolutely enrapturing music and sound design, it will envelop you. I really, really enjoy the megastructure design in this, it feels utterly unique and not relying on tropes like the backrooms to convey its own sense of otherworldly grandeur in a vast world that was not made for you. Each time I was getting upset or lost with the game, I would sleep it off. This gives me the same feeling as Void Stranger, but as a walking simulator and a bit less rage. Easily one of the most aesthetically pleasing while puzzling games I can recall ever. Each time I wander off the track thinking the developers didn't intend this, I was rewarded. It felt as if the game was watching, learning how I played and adapting. There are no maps, the tips provided are layered, there is no hand holding. The checkpoint system in this is beautifully done, but can be very painful for those who feel like walk backs are a waste of time. I really enjoy the lack of a map as it forces you to take the levels in mind on a very detailed level. If you are a fan of surreal exploration games, do not ever sleep on this. Be warned that this is really not a game for the average person, even more so for those expecting immediate gratification. You will be lost and confused and if you get overwhelmed in that, this will not be a game you will enjoy.
This game is truly excellent. Scratches a very niche itch that only a very few other games (Outer Wilds, Echo, Observation) manage to hit. Bringing cosmic scale and cosmic horror across is hard to do, and it's even harder to do on a budget, but this game manages it through creative architecture, tonally-exact writing, and a surprisingly open exploration structure where you actually get rewarded for trying strange routes. If you've ever looked at a picture of a black hole and felt that thrill, the sense of vertigo as you imagine toppling in, and you're unable to look away? This is the game for you.
Immaculate vibes and beautiful scenery. Absolute screenshot porn. Interesting story as well. My only minor criticisms are some awkward platforming at times, and the glacial move speed given the map size. Using a speedhack at 3x fixed this annoyance for me entirely. In summary, if you like megastructures at all, I can highly recommend this.
Very immersive and runs well. Great music. Otherwise, it's a bad game. The lack of a map is a killer...Also, the platforming is pretty bad. If you fall, it starts you over at the beginning of the level. The game needs a map and more checkpoints!
Such a weird game... I bought it because the OST on the store page was incredible. The vibes you get from just the menu are incredible and I loved it. The whole game is basically a megastructure walking simulator. There is no real interaction aside from what is shown in the trailer, you can go anywhere you want, no time constraint. Very enjoyable. I believe a lot of work went into the design of the maps and it was really fun to discover the different sections of the labyrinth. They all have their own style + the music makes the atmosphere so much better. Really love the illustrations too. The only downside to this game tho is that the "Unravel its mysteries, choose your own path" thing is a bit exaggerated.
You can choose the ending you want at the very end of the game and some of them are totally unmissable if you got to the end in the first place,
so that side makes it a bit less special to find those endings yourself. The story is also on big mystery that needs to be "solved", but it answers it in a similar way to explaining where Mr. Rumpelstislkin came from by saying he's a Rumpelstilskinian. Sure, you got your answer, but it was explained using broad in game lore that does not have any clear or definitive conclusion for the player. Wouldn't recommend if you expect action, but if you're looking after vibes that's the game you need. I'll give it a thumbs up, but I'd give it a 50% if I could. I don't know what to think about this game
Probably my favorite game. For the esoteric world building.
If you like a Kairo, or a NaissanceE, or a Fugue In Void, this is one of those x infinity.
