About
“Nafuda Sagashi” is a psychological exploration game set in the liminal spaces of a Japanese school, where you wander through the building searching for lost name tags.
You will walk through empty school corridors and classrooms, looking for name tags that have fallen somewhere, drifting along the boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

The places you encounter—deserted classrooms, silent hallways, unnaturally wide spaces—create a subtle sense of unease that heightens the tension of the game.
This game is designed with the intention of making you lose your way.
If you feel like you’re wandering through the same place over and over,
that actually means you’re on the right track.

By collecting the name tags hidden throughout the map, you can unlock new areas.
The average playtime is 60 to 120 minutes, depending on how thoroughly you explore.

This is partly an essay and partly a game review. Let me start: I don’t usually enjoy walk simulators, except for those that capture atmosphere and immersion like no other. Nafuda should be under your radar if you’re looking for a no-time-pressure experience—something you can play on a late afternoon while listening to ambient sound. As a teacher, I find it compelling to see the beauty of nothingness in vast spaces where students once burned the midnight oil. The school feels alive in its own way—the placement of chairs may seem trivial to casual players, but to me it reflects how people value time and space, and how classroom settings depict a culture of closeness. Each room becomes a microcosm of the identities of those who once stayed there, whether their experiences were good or bad. Narrative-wise, I was expecting more than what meets the eye: perhaps letters or audio recordings of NPCs interpreting the setting, similar to The Stanley Parable, but with a reflective twist. Finding name tags provides motivation to explore each floor, waiting to see what’s in store. Yet I wasn’t hooked by the idea of completing all the name tags, especially knowing that a large number of cards are required to unlock an achievement—escaping the school. The mechanic feels more like a task than a narrative payoff. Ultimately, Nafuda is a game about seriously collecting name tags and decluttering your mind as you dive into nostalgia. If you’re a fan of walk simulators and don’t mind being lost, then it’s worth experiencing for yourself. It doesn’t offer a fresh take on the genre, but I appreciate the effort to craft varied classroom ambiences—sometimes raw, sometimes obnoxious—that evoke both memory and mood.
Full of nostalgia and surprises. A great game that's worth the price of admission.
Fun short liminal walking game, and cheap. But it needs an option to turn "mouse smoothing" off, because smoothed camera can make some people queasy.
very good game loved it aot :)
