My Big Sister

No esperaba mucho y terminé bastante enganchado. Es de esos juegos que te atrapan más por la historia que por la jugabilidad. Tiene un tono oscuro y a ratos incómodo, pero también momentos más emocionales que le dan bastante peso a lo que pasa. Lo que más me gustó fue cómo se va desarrollando todo. Al inicio puede parecer confuso, pero mientras avanzas empiezas a conectar piezas, y cuando sacas varios finales, todo cobra mucho más sentido. Eso sí, no es un juego para ir con prisa, porque gran parte de la experiencia está en prestar atención. El estilo pixel le queda perfecto y la música acompaña muy bien, creando una atmósfera bastante marcada. Aunque no es un terror directo, sí juega mucho con lo psicológico. No todo es perfecto: la traducción al español tiene errores, hay algunos fallos técnicos y ciertos puzzles pueden ser algo molestos o poco claros. Aun así, la historia compensa bastante esos detalles.

I played both My Big Sister and the Remastered edition back to back and it was an extremely interesting experience. So this review will cover both games and their differences. If you don't want to read this whole review but want a quick way to know which version to pick up, I preferred the experience of the remastered edition mainly due to the writing adjustments. Now I enjoyed both of these games a lot. I have not played any of the other entries in this series, I thought it was a one off when I bought it, so the story is extremely confusing to me and I will not be commenting on it further. Though I may revisit this review once I have played some of the other titles. Both games are similar in terms of the world layout, puzzles, and quest objectives, but beyond that there isn't too many similarities. The remastered version improves upon the writing by a substantial amount. There was a big chunk of the story rewritten. It was overall a much needed change, especially for the main character, and made the story WAY more easy to follow. The graphics change is probably the most obvious of the improvements, which I did highly enjoy the more vibrant and expressive maps a lot but I do think that the original is better in some areas due to the differences in perspective and detailing the two games have. A lot of the areas in the original feel quite open and clean, which is nice for places like the train station and the true ending area, and became a lot more cramped and cluttered in the remaster. The addition of sprites for a lot of the characters was a much needed addition though. I like the way a lot of them were portrayed as opposed to the original. Overall even though the world of the remaster looks nicer, I like the original more. The last difference I noticed was in the horror aspects. The original can be played without ever experiencing a tense moment or spooky game over screen (no jumpscares in either of them) the remake does up the ante a little bit in this regard. Both include a similar amount of blood and gore to make the environment spooky, but there is one spot in the remake where you can be chased by a monster and it is a little stressful if you are not expecting it. It is easy to avoid though, after you encounter it a time or two, as it only appears in one area and leaving said area despawns it for a short time. Overall I liked both experiences a lot and each have their charms, so if you can I would recommend you play both, but if you are looking for a better overall experience, go with the remake!

It's a little buggy and the start is painfully slow but overall this is a decent little game with a surprisingly good story.

I'm just gonna get straight to the point: this is my favorite game of all time. I can't quite put into words as to why THIS game in particular has been my favorite for years, but it definitely holds a special place in my heart. The story is heart-wrenching, the psychological horror is superb, the music is amazing, and the writing is both humorous while still retaining some inkling of seriousness--I was invested every second of the way. I played this game a couple years on my Nintendo Switch when it was on sale there. I decided to get it again recently to see if it held up; it does, and so much more. While there's still a ways to go with me fully understanding the story, it's still some of the best story I have ever witnessed in my life. The game felt like a book I was reading about these two sisters going about their trials and tribulations. So, if you haven't already, PLEASE play this game! Even if you don't enjoy this game to the same extent as me, it's still an amazing experience that I highly recommend!

There’s a spot mid way that wouldn’t let me finish. Was sad about that because the story was very good. Can't bring myself to dislike though
