What a unique experience! Interesting plot, funny artwork, nice flowing riddles Great old school gaming feel! Everything I needed to immerse
Carrots, kung-fu, and a forest with secrets I went in expecting silly, and got something a lot smarter than that. Mutants Ate My Carrots is a proper point-and-click adventure in the classic mold — you play a grumpy black rabbit whose carrot stash gets stolen, and what starts as a petty revenge quest spirals into something genuinely darker and more interesting than the title suggests. Every screen looks like a panel pulled from a slightly twisted children's book — soft fairy-tale forests with something rotten creeping in at the edges. The animation has that lovingly-drawn-frame-by-frame quality you don't see much anymore, and it makes the world feel handmade in a way that no asset-flip shortcut could fake. The humor is sharp without being smug, and it knows exactly when to pull back and let the suspense breathe. The dual inventory is a clever touch — collecting skills alongside items gave the puzzles a little extra texture, and I never hit a wall that felt unfair. ~6 hours, finished in two sittings.
TLDR: A decent indie point and click adventure in a fairy tale world. No voice acting and not for kids, but could be well worth a look to a fan of the genre. General Thoughts/Overview: Mutants ate my Carrots (MAMC) is a strange point and click adventure. In a round-about sort of way it gives me toonstruck vibes, but it’s very much its own thing. We are black rabbit, last of the black rabbits, and we’re both violent and unimpressed with our magical McGuffins being stolen. As such we must go on an adventure into the enchanted forest, where our patience is tested as we do favours for people for information in a standard rub everything on everything else, talk to everyone about everything, and if you get stuck talk to them again and rub everything on everything else again point and click adventure. Pros:

The smooth art and interesting world were quite engaging and enjoyable. The characters and backgrounds are pleasant, and the art direction in general is well done.
The multitude of media and gaming references was good fun for an old man like me who recognised many of them. They were tastefully done and it didn’t feel like it was rammed down your throat, partly because of the art style mentioned above, and partly because it was clearly baked in as an aside.
MAMC gets funnier the further through you are. A lot of good tongue in cheek moments, several of which made me exhale through my nose and chuckle, which given I’m a miserable git and very cynical about point and clicks trying to be funny is high praise. This game also understood when and how to break the fourth wall, a skill which seems to be rarer these days.
Cons:

The game opens with a ton of textposition, and it isn’t really meaningful to the game, although it does set the scene. I found it a drag to read through. Like, I get it, the devs love their game and the world they’ve built… but I don’t, not yet. I don’t want to hear about all these things they think are cool in one go. I want to hear about them later, in snippets, building up a picture in my own mind.
I didn’t like the way dialogue was written at all. And I found it incredibly jarring initially. The odd mix of slang in complete sentences, where the characters are meant to be speaking informally, but doing so with a formal structure and using implied connectives which would be dropped by native speakers made the game feel unpolished and amateurish.
MAMC doesn’t really know who it’s aimed at. It’s so simplistic and short that it’s very much accessible to children and individuals who have never played a point and click adventure before. But the content doesn’t match that, with drug use heavily implied and violence a required staple of the game making it unfit for children, and the heavy use of references and point and click adventure staples suggesting it was built for people with a love of the genre.
Suggested improvements:

Some tasteful voice acting would really bring this game to life. I didn’t mind the reading as it were, but a decent performance would give this some charisma earlier on than it picks up.
I would recommend revisiting the introduction, as I almost wrote the game off due to the compounding factors of textposition and abnormal dialogue.
If there was time, I’d have loved to see a “pure puzzle” mode and a “pure violence” mode. Maybe alternate endings based on the volume of each you used.
Overall Recommendation: Overall I do recommend MAMC. However, I would consider it to currently be about twice as expensive as I’d have been happy to have paid. This is a five quid game. At not even 3 hours long (might stretch to it after I achievement hunt), it’s not really long enough to warrant even that. But in terms of quality, polish, entertainment, and uniqueness it makes it up. If you enjoy supporting indies and want to see more from the guys that made this, then it’s a no-brainer to grab. I recommend this to people looking for something a bit different in the PnC genre. I recommend this to people who enjoy ‘whacky’ stories which are self-aware, and I recommend this to people who struggle with puzzle games or are relatively new to the genre and don’t want to be frustrated by progression difficulties. I don’t recommend this to people who hate reading. I don’t recommend it to people who want a strong challenge, and I don’t recommend it to people who are looking for a particularly complex, deep, or strong character driven and meaningful story. Finally this is not for children; too much violence, too many drug references. So yeah, this is decent. I think most point and click fans would get something from it, the question is how much they’re willing to fork out for the experience. Crazy game, beautiful animations, wild humour and unique point and fight mechanic using inventory items, thumbs up!!
I really enjoyed this game. It reminds me of old point and click games that were on Newgrounds, especially with the writing. There were many moments that made me laugh and while there were a few times where I had problems figuring out what to do, I was able to figure the puzzles out after a little bit of thinking and using the spacebar to highlight the interactable objects. Definitely would recommend this if you enjoy point and click adventure games with a twisted sense of humour.
(Beta tester for game) First thing, it's called 'Mutants Ate My Carrots', probably the best title for a game. You control a martial arts rabbit as well. Gameplay is mainly point and click, plus some turn-based combat. You start with basic moves and then learn others as the game progresses. Great humourous dialogue and plenty of gameplay, it took me 5.5 hours on beta test playthrough. Achievements weren't available at the time, so I'll try for them later. Looking forward to more adventures from this developer!
This really encapsulated that feeling of playing through an old point and click game. The humour and the crazy story fit this game very well. I also really liked getting the map as being able to fast travel between areas made the game much more enjoyable when not having to back track areas, and potentially get lost.

Base Game - 9/10 High quality game with a comics book art style including traditional comics word bubbles for dialogs. Authentic soundtrack blends perfectly with speech simulation sound which creates some kind of a retro feeling. In my opinion, this is a perfect alternative for voice acting. The game is good for beginners, but might be too easy for experienced players. Puzzles are straightforward and the game is full of clues that are actually hints. What I mean is that naturally exploring the area and talking to NPCs often makes it way to easy to solve puzzles. Most of the objects in the game are not allowed to be picked unless you discover that you really need them - you can only examine them. Most likely the intention is to let the players discover the 'key' only after they discover the 'door'. But for me it felt like you see the 'key', it is fully reachable, but you can't get it because you haven't found the 'door' yet. I think for point & click adventure games the common strategy is to grab everything that is pickable even though you don't know if you need it or not - you'll figure it out later. In overall the game is really cool, I can recommend it! Achievements - 10/10 Achievements are interesting to obtain and require exploring the game without skipping anything. There are missable achievements, so inspect the environment carefully.
Mutants Ate My Carrots is one of those rare indie surprises that manages to capture the charm of classic point-and-click adventures while adding its own wonderfully weird twist. Developed by Animatic Vision and Dionous Games, it’s a hand-drawn comedy adventure that follows Blackjack, a grumpy black rabbit on a mission to find out who - or what - devoured his precious carrot stash. The game instantly stands out for its art style. Every background feels lovingly illustrated, filled with small visual jokes and expressive characters that make its strange world feel alive. The humor leans into absurdity in the best way, mixing clever writing with slapstick moments that never overstay their welcome. Gameplay will feel familiar to fans of the genre but adds a fun layer of experimentation with its dual inventory system. One inventory handles traditional items, while the other stores “skills” that you can apply in creative ways. This approach makes puzzles feel fresh, encouraging players to think outside the box instead of just combining random objects. While it’s not an overly long game, the pacing is spot-on. There’s a consistent rhythm between exploration, puzzle-solving, and story progression, keeping things engaging right to the end. Mutants Ate My Carrots is available now on Steam, and for anyone unsure, there’s also a free demo to try. I personally ended up playing through the whole thing in one sitting - simply because I couldn’t put it down. A quirky, clever, and genuinely fun adventure. Highly recommended for fans of offbeat humor and classic point-and-click storytelling. ⭐ 8.5/10 – Guard your veggies. Enjoy the chaos.
