A mighty fine game for anyone who likes their rock music, adventure games, and dad jokes. And who doesn't?

Alright. [i]Rock ‘n’ Roll Will Never Die![/i] is done and dusted. This is a classic comedy point and click centered on some middle aged plus, anthropomorphic animal ex-glam rock band musicians, who are going through mid life crises and decide to get the band back together. Which, as a middle aged rock and metal guitarist myself, was particularly funny and on point, lol. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3143788394 Our protagonists are of course completely self centered idiots with debatable musical talent, and so the game really showcases the comedy of errors which is their attempt to relive their glory days and become rock stars. Straight away, I’ll tell you that if you’re very sensitive to things that poke fun at political correctness, this isn’t the game for you. It’s unabashed hedonistic raunch with a complete disregard for decency, lol. If you for some reason still believe in your god du jour, this isn’t the game for you. You will almost definitely find this game to be highly offensive. For the rest of us, this game is hilarious. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3144087400 As to it being a classic point and click, there’s a bit of push and pull as you figure out how this dev decided to apply PnC logic to the puzzles. How do you clear a clogged sewage line? Have you tried using your medication to do so? Once you figure out how the nonsense logic is applied, this game becomes pretty easy to progress through, although trial and error is still king. I’d say it’s about 50/50 here between sensible puzzle solutions and PnC puzzle solutions. Reading through the achievements list will also make a few things obvious. The graphics and the OST were designed with fun in mind. The OST itself has a few bangers that you’ll enjoy listening to. The graphics are in line with its contemporaries and very true to the story itself. There are plenty of evocative scenes throughout. The story is obviously a heavily parodied and yet somehow realistic example of what any rock or metal musician will be familiar with in the music scene if they’ve been playing in bands for any amount of time. It’s not really such a far cry from reality, lol. We (musicians) all know some people in the scene that act more or less like the protagonists in this game. I'd say pretty much all of the jokes in the game are pop culture, socio-political, or music industry meta. I can see that increasing for people depending on how familiar they are, or how quickly they adjust to PnC logic. I did play this on the Steam Deck, and it was fully compatible with no adjustments necessary. Interactions default to the A or R2 buttons, and moving the cursor was keyed to Right Analog. Battery life was close to five hours. So, I bought this at some point in-between the last (as of the time of this writing) Steam Autumn and Winter sales for $1.49. I’ve seen it on sale since then for a bit more, which makes for some price inconsistency. I’ll just say that IMO, for $5 or less, cost vs value is there. You’ll need to play this twice if you’re a cheevo completionist (or be creative with your save files), but there’s not really any replay value. This game is definitely worth playing if you’re a PnC fan and/or a musician. If not, you may want to read through a few reviews before deciding to play it. The love really shows for what it wants to tell, and the humor is really good. The anthropomorphic world so far works. Update: after 0.5 hr playtime the game no longer fun due to the following issues: - no voice over - games half or third the price does have full voice over for point and click games - the text format is hard to read due the font used - the text does not move the to the next line after you click like in other games, but it moves without your input on its own accord and it rushes you which is the exact opposite of what you want with these type of games. This means that you will need to pay extra close attention to the text since there is no voice over and the font used is subpar. - you cannot look up a walkthrough or other things during playtime when you are in full screen mode, because the game would crash otherwise. - so you need to play it in windowed mode which lowers the pixels and you see even less of your environment, which furthers worsens the overall experience - there is no hotkey to look for hints or objects, so you need to point your cursor everywhere, at this age this is a must for p&c adventure games for quite some years now. Adding all these issues and annoyances up turns this into a definite negative review.

I love this game. The gameplay and style are awesome, the story is cohesive and funny. You do need to be okay with reading the captions, as there are no voice actors, but I haven't had this much fun playing a game for a long time. The game requires some thought or random clicking every now and then, but it is not too difficult. It took me about 17 hours to casually explore my way through the game. It's a real classic point-and-click game. If you like those, you'll like this. There's a playable demo, just try the game and see for yourself!

Irreverent, old-school point and click crafted with a genuine love for glorious rock and roll. Your inner skullet-dad will delight in every second of this anarchic romp.

I probably overrate this game because I drink too much alcohol, am approaching middle age and love heavy metal just like the main character. It’s probably a 5/10 for all the normies out there with its slow walking speed and lack of voiced dialogue, but to me this was the 8/10 heavy metal adventure diamond in the rough. Full of heavy metal references, macabre humor, and cool animations, Rock ‘n’ Roll Will Never Die is the narrative metal game I’ve craved for all my life. I spent $1.49 on this and was floored by the amount of content. Most of the writing is bawdy and legitimately funny, although your mileage will vary. I cracked up at a lot of the alcoholism and closeted homosexuality jokes, but the second a priest is introduced I was rolling my eyes at the amount of molestation humor peppered throughout the next hour of play. If you find the Deponia games distasteful, this is that humor turned up to 11. Regardless, the solo developer understands how to make fun adventure sequences. Objectives are always outlined, and while the story often bounces around randomly it always maintains a balance between brain teasing puzzles and obvious inventory combinations. 2022 was such a stacked year for cool point and click adventures, it’s unfortunate this one will be lost in the mix. It’ll definitely be in my top ten, not as great as Return to Monkey Island (which didn’t crack my top five adventure games of 2022) but definitely cooler (and longer) than Excavation of Hobb’s Barrow.

Ist ein Oldschool Point and Click Game, das heißt wir spielen mit Maus und klicken uns durch verschiedene Locations wie bspw. eine Bar oder ein Musikladen. Die Rätsel variieren zwischen leicht und sehr knifflig, bei dem man dann oft überlegen muss, was man machen muss. So hatte ich manchmal das Gefühl, nicht weiter zu kommen, nach einer Pause ging es dann doch, hin und wieder half es auch, Dinge zu probieren, die total unlogisch erscheinen. Abgesehen von den üblichen Point and Click Puzzles, gab es auch kleinere Minispiel, die im Gegensatz zu den Puzzles aber sehr einfach waren. Der schwarze Humor ist im gesamten Spiel vertreten und erinnerte mich etwas an „Little Britains“, es gab aber auch zahlreiche Anspielungen auf andere Games, die ich sehr witzig fand und mich zum Schmunzeln brachte. „Skyrim“ wird bspw. mehrfach im Spiel erwähnt. [h1][b]Gute Musik und tolle Zeichnungen[/b][/h1] Obwohl ich Rock als Musik nicht sonderlich mag, war das Spiel erträglich. Die Musik war nur instrumental und passte einfach sehr gut zum Spiel und vor allem zum Humor. Rock-Fans werden aber zumindest instrumental auf ihre Kosten kommen. Eine Sprachausgabe gibt es im Spiel generell nicht, es heißt also auch Liedertexte zu lesen. Das Spiel ist zudem komplett auf Englisch, deutsche Untertitel bzw. Übersetzungen gibt es nicht. Das Artwork ist gelungen und hat mir wirklich gut gefallen, alles ist schön pixelig gehalten, recht bunt und einfach schräg. Das Artwork, der Soundtrack, die Texte und der schwarze Humor harmonisieren so gut, dass es besser kaum noch geht. Die Rätsel sind ziemlich knifflig und oft muss man auf die Lösung erst mal kommen. Etwas schade ist, dass das Spiel nur auf Englisch ist, Untertitel in mehreren Sprachen hätten sicher geholfen um auch Fans des Genres zu erreichen, die kein Englisch können. So wird das Spiel vermutlich nur ein Nischentitel bleiben. „Rock 'n' Roll Will Never Die!“ ist ein must have für Point and Click Fans, die auf schwarzen Humor stehen und ich kann das Spiel nur wärmstens empfehlen, vor allem im nächsten Sale. Original and funny story - especially the punny jokes and music references. The story and dialogue nicely tie together with the puzzles, which themselves are clever and challenging, yet not overwhelming. Had a lot of fun playing this game!

Nice new modern point and click that doesn't take itself too seriously. A little linear and light on the puzzles but nicely drawn and full of well-delivered satirical humour. The story itself is an aging rocker's drug trip as he tries to get the band back together; wacky. RnRWND is a fun, light-hearted point and click that will appeal to anyone that enjoys their 90s rock nostalgia. Nice hires pixels. Good sense of humour - well-delivered satire and loaded with puns. Dressed in a stereotypical denim vest and bandana, players can organise band practice, frequent bars, play unpaid support gigs and much more in this amusing musical adventure. It is a fun and unusual game with original themes and a wonderfully silly comedy style. It will take about 8-10 hours to complete and has a lot to offer including its cute yet edgy hand-drawn artwork, 100+ characters to meet and plenty of musical adventures to be had. It comes with a content warning and the themes and explicit humour may not be to everyone’s tastes but I’d happily recommend this to point-and-click fans with any sort of appreciation for rock or metal.
