'Mountain Rescue Simulator', a game I was hesitant to try for a long time, especially for the price combined with the few impressive resources available to convince us whether or not to buy it like reviews, gameplay videos, even the discussion section on the steam community of the game is just empty That did not mean that I wasn't curious anymore so i gave it a try anyway. Watch a short gameplay of the game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62tAXK_T_lg When we play simulators we experience all (or most) steps related to what the simulation is about, in Mountain Rescue Simulator these steps are rather shortened with minimal objectives per assignment, the way you have to do the assignments and how they are structured is frankly a bit monotonous, ok you have different vehicles, different routes with corresponding conditions but you will often have a feeling that it seems that you have already done what you are doing. There are about twenty tasks to complete and if you complete them all you will unlock a free mode in which you can experience this monotonous gameplay completely freely... The game didn't quite feel like a simulator, but when I look at the concept of the game I can understand that simulator is in the title, Anyway, this is more of a game for mountaintop fans than for fans of simulator games, which in itself isn't a bad thing because there's something for everyone, and ultimately that's something simulator games meet.
Well well well, UIG finally released a game you can't even play. Mountain Rescue Simulator loads into the first mission fine, right up until you go to earn your training wheels on the rescue ATV. The Up Arrow key is what starts the engine...but they mapped it to also alter your viewpoint while aboard the vehicle. You guessed it, the engine doesn't start. I spent 18 minutes trying to find a workaround. No dice. Even Google wouldn't be my friend this time. Going by streamer footage this appears to be the case for the next level as well, rendering the game unplayable for mouse and keyboard users as it unlocks missions sequentially and heavily relies on the ATV for much of the game. Pretty lame. Hellooo refund.
No controller binding, Loud menu music that you cant turn down, the keyboard controls are mildly usable, the quad handles like crap, i can only imagine how the rest of the vehicles ride. I had high hopes but ill be attempting a refund
i went into this game with low expectations, and it beat them. the vehicals all handle pretty bad but the chopper is actually pretty fun. the pause menu music is pretty decent. just don't use the reset when on the snowmobile, it keeps launching me into the void.
This game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The graphism is very bad and the game as annoying.
Mountain Rescue Simulator is a fun experience! A mission is assigned to you, like rescue the broken leg guy, or rescue the broken hand guy, and you're given a vehicle to race to the scene to give aid, drop the injured (or wanderer, as they're often referred to as) off at the hospital, and return to HQ for the next assignment. There are 4 different vehicles, each one is assigned, so you don't get to choose, and sometimes, you don't even get to drive. There is an ATV, snowmobile, track vehicle, and helicopter - aside from the helicopter, the vehicles mostly handle the same, and all struggle to get up the steep, snowy inclines of the mountain. There's also a pair of cute mountain dogs that have the rum barrel around their neck too. Love those guys. You're equipped with basic life saving tools - a walkie talkie, rope, knife, defibrillator, etc, and are expected to rescue and give basic aid to the wanderers in need. Admittedly, the game missions can get a bit stale, as they're mostly the same formula - drive to injured guy, drive to hospital, drive back to HQ, rinse and repeat. Luckily though, this game is just brimming with personality, and has loads of fun to be had on your own. For instance, if you drive with the emergency lights on, other cars will swerve out of your way to let you by, and they can be manipulated into driving into the mountain, into fences, or deep snow banks. This makes me laugh. I did encounter a few glitches that prevented any progress, like being stuck on top of the helicopter, or not being able to enter/exit the vehicle as required by the mission, but quitting the game and starting the mission over solved this, even though it was a bit of a pain. There isn't much in the way of sound effects, but the pause menu has decent music, it'd be nice if it was audible during gameplay too. I recommend getting this game on sale, I picked it up while it is 80% and definitely got my money out of it, being able to act silly during serious situations is my favorite thing to do in a video game. I wish this game leaned into the fun a bit more, but good fun is where you make it.
