The unbridled force of nature runs wild and relentless, with environments transforming drastically from one moment to the next. This is a story of monsters and humans and their struggles to live in harmony in a world of duality.

When I think about Monster Hunter, I think of having to explore a map, learning the layout, find and keep track of the monster I need to fight, being careful about my positioning and commitment to moves, and having to fight a monster more than once or twice to finally get the equipment pieces I want or need. This game does nothing of the sort, and what is still present here, is heavily disincentivized. Maps are uninspired, uninteresting, just a blur of a single color, nothing striking, nothing cool. Which would be an issue if you had to learn them, but "luckily" mr. Capcom is here to save you from a problem they themselves created: here is a mount that will automatically Uber you to your destination, no need to find the monster, it does that for you, no need to stop to gather materials, you can do that from range by selecting what you want from a list of nearby sources, you dont even need to aim at them you just need to press a single button. Combat is laughably easy at the core, are you using a weapon that can block? You now have perfect blocks, and even the strongest attacks can be nullified completely that way, no need to get points in guard or guard up skills. Attacks can be redirected and corrected, even mid-swing in some cases, you don't need to position yourself, to consider what the monster is doing or could be doing, the game simplifies everything for you. This time, as the awful gimmick that every monhun game must have, we've got Wounds. You hit a part enough time and it gets wounded, which makes it take more damage until the wound is destroyed, making the monster fall down or flinch. The issue is, you can just stunlock a monster to death with this, from the weakest of them to the final monster of high rank. But hey at least there's no wirebugs. All in all this is just a mediocre game, but just that would be not enough for me to just tell people to not play it, these are my thoughts, other people might like the extreme streamlining of the game. What definitively tips the scales to a "don't bother just grab World+Iceborne its cheaper and better" is how the story is done and the complete removal of flavor from the game: The game is on rails for quite a long time, you are very often stuck walking or riding along your marvel quips-dialogue riddled npc characters, and you cannot skip these sequences that last for a relatively long time. And they must've thought they really were cooking for this one because they removed the monhun language so you get to experience all of it in an actual language of your choosing. Flavor text from the npcs in quest boards? gone. A village like in every single other game? hope you weren't expecting Pokke or Seliana, gone. The music is nice but few tracks manage to stand out, the rest is okay, not bad but nothing that makes you go WOW or look it up on youtube. It really gives the feeling of shareholders meddling after seeing that MHW was their best selling game ever, and devs somehow being confused and maybe scared about what to do with this one. It's not awful, it just feels flavorless, there's no seasoning. It just feels corporate. Your money is better spent on Monster Hunter World + Iceborne, or if you already own that, just go back to it, there is a reason that game still has as many active players as this one does.
I want to sing this games praises and everything because this is the first Monster Hunter game I played legitly....BUT....the optimization is so ass man. And the crashes, you know how obnoxious it is to be halfway or almost done with a hunt and you freaking crash?!?!?!? If it just happened a couple of times over the course that I played it, I could let it slide, but it's like everyday that it's crashing. But outside of that I really enjoy the game, the weapons feel good to use, the customization is great, combat feels nice, the story is okay, the events were cool (seeing as they stopped updating until the expansion comes out in a year). But um yea...can't really fully enjoy it if you're crashing.
Co-op story experience is terrible in this game. You has to watch cutscenes separately before you play together. How many years of experience hmm? Yikes yikes and yikes
Played on xbox originally because of all the performance issues at launch but just recently picked it up for pc and it runs like a dream now even on my older pc. Would recommend this to any monster hunter fan
Worse in evry way compared to Worlds, it's monster hunter for people who like the concept. Wish i could like it, I don't, only reason I'll keep playing is so i can actually play with friends.
On graphics setting that made this game look worse than MHWorld even the character creator was lagging like crazy. And once I got into the first scen where i had control over my character every input had like a 15s delay. I am used to playing with not the best graphics and performance, but this is just unplayable.
