Reviews
This game is criminally underrated and it saddens me to see this game wasn't more popular. This is one of the best Metroidvania games I've played over the years alongside Shantae, Ori, Hollow Knight, Nine Sols, and The Messenger. I played this on the Switch when it released and am finally playing it again on Steam for 100% completion. The level of polish in the animations and the artwork is insane and you can tell the developers put a lot of thought and love into this game to try to create an experience that was faithful to the Wonder Boy franchise while also bringing it into the modern era of gaming. I tried playing the remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, but the floaty controls and brutally challenging combat just make it a difficult experience to enjoy. This game can be a bit difficult at first, but it never felt unfair and the modern frequent checkpoints make it much more palatable than it's predecessor. This is the game that feels like the direction the Wonder Boy franchise truly deserves. I do hope that we get a sequel someday, even with how unlikely that seems. Also, for the guy saying this game is just a Dollar Store Shantae clone... Wonder Boy existed before Shantae. Shantae was heavily inspired by the Wonder Boy franchise with being able to change into different creature forms.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.38/day in the week to Jul 21 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

3.5/10 + art style - NO DODGE - NO DOUBLE JUMP - NO MID AIR DASH - janky hitboxes - everything respawns really fast - all abilities have a limited number of uses until you need to kill more enemies and hope for drops. here you just unlocked boomerang and you need to use it 5 times to solve this puzzle. we gave you 1 and each time you use it you need to go back down and kill another slime because you can only hold the 1.....WHY??? - puzzles need abilities to solve - 1 hit kill spikes - very few check points - checkpoints dont heal - enemies knock you back
one of the best classical Metroidvania I know. The right mix of Puzzle, platform and progression. Loving it!
This is an excellent game. While it may seem aimed at younger players due to its visual style, it is actually suitable for players of all ages who enjoy challenging puzzles and exploration. I played it many years ago and got stuck. But after watching my nephew play it on my computer recently, I was drawn to it again and decided to finish it. It's a challenging game. You have to find the right perspective to solve the puzzles and defeat bosses, and you have to retry many times. The control is fluent. Very well-designed control. The map is large. There are many treasure hunts, ability upgrades, secret stages, and a lot of fun. Both music and anime are excellent. It’s Metrovania, but it’s not just Metrovania. Definitely worth playing. I’ve completed it with all achievements unlocked. It took me over 40 hours in total, and I enjoyed every minute in the game.
There's something good here, but there's so much tat just made me swear. Inconsistencies, annoying combat. I just finally had to put the controller down. It got slowly better as I played, but the annoyances also grew.
Underrated
Overlooked. Just plays great. High production value. New. SHARPs
A exploração é bem recompensadora.
Much better than I expected, and grew up playing wonder boy. This game deserves way more love
Very nice balanced gameplay for a metroidvania! Difficulty was nice for a title that eases transition into the genre. Rich graphics, gameplay, music, and more. Greatly replayable so don't sleep on this one.
