After several years, I came back to play Might & Magic X and am unable to play for it is asking me to enter the CD Key again...but it is now saying the key is invalid. and it looks like I am not the only one with this issue based on other reviews for the game. If they do not fix this, I will never buy a Ubisoft game again and I recommend never to buy anything from this thieving company. They will break old games for no good reason. Edit: They decided they will not fix this because the link they gave for verifying my account was also broken. Even sending a screenshot of the link erroring was not enough.
Man UBISOFT really ruined trying to get this to work with their unique launcher and it not taking the CD Key. I'm sure there's a way around it, as I've tried following other posts about it to get around it. I think maybe I've got the wrong email associated with the actual cd key or something. Don't ever buy this from here. In fact, just don't buy it. MM6 7 and 8 are better and UBISOFT doesn't deserve your money.
I only picked this up because it includes the classic Might and Magic VI: Mandate of Heaven. Thankfully MM6 runs perfectly fine on its own through Steam with no Ubisoft account required. As for Might & Magic X? Complete skip. It’s a single-player offline game that still forces you to create and log into a Ubisoft account. That’s an instant no from me. I wouldn’t have paid even $0.99 for X by itself. This is just a positive review for might and magic VI. For those who always wanted to play VI but didnt want to buy VI it on gog you can get it here.
Holy cow what a flaming pile of ♥♥♥♥. What a sad way to kill off an old loved game franchise. Not only does the game movement mechanic regress 5 releases of the game (from free movement to fixed one-square-at-a-time movement), but the party can be downed by a random encounter in the starting town. Just. BAD. Not worth your money, even if it's on sale, and certainly not wasn't worth reinstalling to remind myself of why I uninstalled it the first time several years ago.
Best game ever. Too bad the world went away from this style of gameplay. Could you image what it would look like with todays graphics? Bad ASS
I feel I owe the game a positive review. Let me explain... I have greatly enjoyed Might and Magic 6 and 7, but I've never actually completed either game. I'm the type of gamer who loves big sprawling RPGs, but rarely ever completes them through to the end of the main quest. Well, Might and Magic X, for whatever reason, feels so completeable. I've actually beaten the main quest twice! It has enough of the Might and Magic formula in it for me that I found it quite enjoyable. The first time around I found myself a little bit frustrated by what felt too linear a start, but the second time around, knowing what to expect, and how the game opens up, I had a really pleasant playthrough. Once you finish up at the Elemental Forge and unlock the bridge to Seahaven, the world feels like it opens up a lot more and you've always got some next goal to keep you going, whether that is figuring out a way past a set of just of enemies that are just at the edge of what your party is capable of handling - potentially gaining you access to another city - or going artifact hunting in dangerous caves around the mainland. The quests are pretty good and you get rewarded for exploring and talking to all the NPCs. As you learn where all the skills trainers are, you'll start to feel excited about power spikes as you get your skill upgraded to the expert/master/grandmaster levels. If you actually get a good thing going with your party, the late game feels pretty good when you're able to actually power spike a bit and defeat even the jacked up enemy mobs. So yeah. It feels like a tighter more managable version of the MM6-7 games. You'll never be flying around nuking the entire map with armageddon in the same way, but if you want a shorter version you can actually finish in under 100 hours - this game hits the mark. I frequently get the itch for a MM6-8 game, and of all the modern Might and Magic inspired games I've played so far, none come as close as this one. I'd love a MMXI eventually!
underrated tradtional RPG game, not nearly as good as M&M 3 and 4 IMO but that is a high bar, still an excellent game, miles better than the likes of the recent Obsidian RPGs
I just wanted to give this game a thumbs up, not write a review.
