About
Miasmata is a first-person survival/adventure game, developed from the ground-up by brothers Joe and Bob Johnson. You play as Robert Hughes, a plague-stricken scientist on a journey to discover a cure. Your adventure begins on the shores of a remote and mysterious island. Long ago, the island was inhabited by a group of indigenous people, whose extant monuments still decorate the island landscape. The island is now home to a scientific research outpost and it is your hope to reunite with your colleagues working there. Unfortunately, you'll soon discover that something has gone terribly wrong.
During your adventure, you will encounter a mysterious and deadly creature. This creature can stalk you for miles, lurking behind grasses and vegetative cover. By treading carefully and with stealth, you may be able to elude the creature. If you are careless, however, you will be forced to confront the creature head-on.

Great game. I love walking around in circles and visiting the same cabin I did four times before. I love picking up the same plants over and over again because I can't remember what the heck I picked before. I also love squatting in the bushes for ten minutes while a mutant creature circles my location looking for a place to take a dump. Awesome game. Would totally recommend! Oh yeah... I also love the Runtime errors every other time I play. Nothing says quality gameplay like having to start over from a previous save and retrace your steps for half an hour. Truly the definition of high art.
Yeah its a nice survival game with lots of immersive elements and a great map system, and a spooky cat that likes to chase you.
the major mechanic in this game is to die by a 10 minute flu after stumbling and i'm being 100% honest
The game the best
I give this game a rank C (60-65%) Okay game - not bad but you can skip it or try on sale. See my profile for more details about my reviews. Miasmata is a really intriguing game, with some unique ideas that could have been very interesting to play. Unfortunately the whole experience is repetitive and clunky, the graphics are really not engaging, and the overall atmosphere is too low budget/amateur to keep me on my toes. It is definitely not bad, the concept on paper could for sure interest and entertain some players and some devs looking for different ideas about investigation, puzzle solving and exploration. But as a player in 2025, there is just no reason for me to spend more time on this. This is a 62%, it's okay but completely skipable - only look into it if you are intrigued by the concept or in search of new ideas! Good game, very original and the weather system and clouds look amazing to this day. I just wish the game had more QoL features and ran better, along with having a safe mode where there is no monster and you could walk around like normal and just explore the island. Also needs more FOV options to keep from getting motion sick
Fun exploration type game for when you want a peaceful time.

This game didn't age well. Feels incredibly dated after playing games with thoroughly fleshed out survival mechanics.
