About
A gripping hard sci-fi survival experience about isolation, resilience, and the quiet search for belonging in an alien wilderness.
Hiraeth – a word for the ache of longing for a home you’ve never seen —
and for those stranded on Ahra Prime, it becomes something more.
Is home a place you return to… or one you forge in the void?
You awaken alone on Ahra Prime—a vast, unforgiving planet where a thriving colony once stood. Now it's silent. Empty bases hum with failing power. Systems flicker. But no one remains. Every breath draws from dwindling oxygen. Every step risks suit failure or unseen predators. Every choice echoes across a world that doesn't care if you survive.
Your only goal: endure long enough to unravel the mystery of what happened here—and decide what home means when everything familiar is gone.
HIRAETH is not a simple or forgiving survival game. It’s built for players who enjoy:
Hard sci‑fi survival — deep, demanding systems where oxygen, power, hunger, hydration, temperature, and suit integrity matter every minute. No hand‑holding; every mistake has consequences.
Atmospheric, immersive worlds — a slow‑burn alien environment that rewards patience, observation, and curiosity.
Exploration with real tension — a handcrafted island you can scout from afar, dynamic day/night cycles, and unpredictable encounters.
Developed by a solo true indie creator — with a proven track record of consistent updates, transparent communication, and a world shaped directly by community feedback.
Games that grow on you — tough at first, deeply rewarding once you learn its logic and uncover its mysteries.
HIRAETH blends hard sci‑fi survival with atmospheric exploration. Every system is designed to keep you on edge:
Oxygen, hydration, hunger, temperature, stamina, and suit integrity
Equipment durability and maintenance
Dynamic time and weather affecting fatigue, item wear, and visibility
Predators, environmental hazards, and unpredictable encounters
There’s no hand‑holding, no guided path — even in shelters and bases, danger is never far.
Just you, your EVA suit, and a planet that wants you gone.
Your journey begins on Nesoi Island, a handcrafted region you can scout from afar — even through a sniper scope. Explore land, underwater caverns, abandoned structures, and ruins. Every location hides resources, lore fragments, and clues about the world’s collapse.
As Early Access progresses, Ahra Prime will expand dramatically with new biomes, regions, and vehicles that unlock previously unreachable areas.

An endless survival sandbox where every run is a test of skill and adaptation. Learn the systems, push deeper into the world, and uncover lore that evolves with each attempt.
A narrative journey told across five chapters. Discover the truth behind Ahra Prime, guided by the enigmatic Stranger. Each chapter offers a complete arc with no cliffhangers — culminating in a grand finale.
Story Mode begins unfolding during Early Access, with quests, messages, and early narrative systems already in place.

HIRAETH rewards mastery and experimentation:
Progressive Skills & Perks that shape your playstyle
Challenge Mode arriving during Early Access for structured objectives
Over 20 Steam achievements available from day one, with many more planned
Multiple difficulty levels, from relaxed exploration to brutal survival
Every run feels different thanks to randomization, player choice, and evolving world systems.
Crafting & Upgrades — build tools, weapons, and survival gear
EVA Suit enhancements — improve resistance, efficiency, and survivability
Companions — choose between a quirky alien slug or a high‑tech droid
Vehicles — traverse long distances and reach remote locations
Full Body Awareness — see your entire body and equipment in first‑person (optional for motion‑sensitive players)

A dedicated Training Course introduces the core mechanics, ensuring everyone can learn the systems at their own pace.

Immerse yourself in the desolation of Ahra Prime with an electronic soundtrack crafted to enhance tension, loneliness, and discovery.
HIRAETH is created by a solo developer who works closely with the community. Frequent updates, transparent communication, and player‑driven improvements are at the heart of the project.
If you enjoy titles like The Long Dark, The Solus Project, Subnautica, or Returnal, you’ll feel right at home — or as close to home as Ahra Prime will ever let you get.
HIRAETH is designed as a deeply personal journey:
Full control over pacing and exploration
No waiting for others, no toxicity, no interruptions
A world that grows with you, not against you
A game you can return to years later — no servers required
Most survival games follow a familiar loop. HIRAETH breaks the mold with:
Innovative survival systems
Meaningful progression
Atmospheric worldbuilding
Player freedom and replayability
Accessibility without sacrificing depth
Elegance over grind
Your story on Ahra Prime is yours alone.
Every choice matters. Every mistake teaches. Every discovery pulls you deeper.

Reviews
No. NO NO NO Bugged beyond belief. The demo is a disaster in itself. Bought the game in hope. "Fatal Error" was the constant message, this developer is having a laugh. DO NOT BUY IN CURRENT STATE,
This looks like a fun game. I have not been able to complete the training because my game keeps freezing or crashing.
As an Internal tester of Hiraeth, I have seen and experienced the game across numerous stages of this games development with many hours of gameplay across numerous versions of the game and now in Early Access. Having this experience gives me a very good idea of what you can expect to experience and what Hiraeth has to offer. Currently Hiraeth is a Sandbox Survival interlaced with bits of a rapidly emerging Story Rich plot and more and more locations are being added. The Developer has put his heart and soul into this game and I've enjoyed every minute of playing and testing it. When speaking of Hiraeth versus other games I will say it offers its own unique style of gameplay. One of the number one things you need to know before I progress any further in this review is that, the Developer cares about your experience and has sunken many sleepless hours into developing this game mostly Solo on his own. This developer is always quick to respond to any questions or inquiries you may have be it in the Discord or the Steam Forums and that is something not often seen. He truly cares about this game and wants you to have the best experience possible. One the testaments to this is you have MANY CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS. Hes added the ability for you to customize your controls, Customize your Crosshair size, opacity and frequency of Visibility and even Sounds of all types to allow you to adjust sounds such as the volume of your Abient music all the way down to the sounds of your footsteps. Even allowing your have a module that lets you play your own custom song playlist from the available Hiraeth Tracks. But the sounds from the moment you spawn in till the time you're jamming your custom playlist add alot to the experience. What Hiraeth brings to the table in content will blow your mind you are quickly taken into the immersion of the game by numerous aspects of the game. You will be immersed by things like the automation of your suits warnings and the need to keeps its Survival essentials readily stocked or replaced. You will need to drink and eat as well as sleep to keep your energy up replacing your suits Airtanks and Batteries to maintain your Visual Hud. The weather system can change rapidly and may require Suit insets to survive its changes. You will need to choose what you eat and drink based on the environment you are in just like real astronauts have to. Airlocks on each facility quickly remind of the differences of Oxygenated Environments VS non oxgenated environments exposed to the elements. Opening your visor at the wrong times or having it closed without air supplied can result in your suffocation and death. Not having a battery to operate your suits light can make the difference in being able to see at night or falling into a hole or off a cliff to your death. Thunderstorms sometimes can aid in lighting your way. The weather system can bring rain, storms and even Blizzards and can change rapidly. Facility displays can aid you. If these necessities are not enough to immerse you the Visuals alone are worth the game play with endless moments of wanting to capture the screenshots of the ambient night sky in the back drop of facilities to the beautiful glow of distant moons glowing through the clouds above. You never forget for a moment you are in Space. Suit modules allow you to customize your experience and hud with things such as compass, geo location and GPS, or weather and or Environment modules that tell you the level of Oxygen in the area. Exploring the Island of Nesoi Ahra Prime gives you a plethora of locations to visit both on land and in the water with underwater sunken ships and chests to find viewing the ever increasing flora being added and unique sea life. From traveling the vast open landscape of rocky high cliffs and sloping hills and mountains to visiting existing well established outposts with detailed interiors and Chargers for your essential items that include things such Air Tank Charger, Battery Charger, and even a filler for your canteen or Mountain locations with long forgotten broken down Drones. Making your way to POIs like the Nesoi Island Comms Center which features a working Elevator and detailed large interior. While exploring youll find a great many options for your character from Various Back Pack sizes to small front pouches that can be readily accessed with a quick menu to allow life saving intervention. The mini games like Hacking,Repair or a more forceful breaching making encountering containers very interesting. Repairing a Terminal with a flux sync tool reveals all the locations containers contents. Hacking with the use of a Ratter and or a Talon AI card can make for some what more intimidating entries. The Enemy Creatures you encounter can be both detrimental to your health or aiding in your survival with both meat items or crafting items dropped to allow improved and visually enhanced Armor. Armor pieces will help to reduce damage you take and there are several pieces a few for each part of the body to further strengthen your suit. You can cook meat on the various stoves and survive to the point of running of food relying only on cooking Slug Steaks and or eatingmushrooms to survive. To add to the immerision you will need an EVA Autoinjector to use certain meds to heal when out exploring. Various medkits replenish certain stats. The menus available allow for organzing your bags and or easier access to items as well as allow you to view your Stats in Detail like Statistics Achievments and Skill Levels. Repairing and maintaining items like Blades and Weapons can be done on the fly or one Workbenches the variety of weapon choices in Hiraeth allows for all types of game play from side arms to rifle or ranged rifle, fully auto or a more powerful play style of Shotgun. These items can be cleaned or repaired on the fly or at one of many workbenches. With Workbench options that include Chemistry, Gunsmithing, Workbench, and even ExoTailoring for your suit. tools allow you to both enter containers and or Break down and process materials. The Crafting system allows you to use blueprints you find around Nesoi to craft items easily visually seeing the required materials and level needed to craft them as well even allowing for option of what tool you would like to use to create them. You can craft modules, blades/Tools, weapons and even Medical items and first aid kits. The number of things you can do in Hiraeth is vast and almost endless in its customization options and and variety of items this game will easily have you immersed and trying to frantically find more air while also surviving and exploring the landscape and waters of Nesoi. Even with all of the hours of play I have in this game I find enjoyment playing again and again and theres only more to come as the Developer continues to add features and update it. Give the Demo a Try or Pick up your copy and jump into the Early Access to experience all it has to offer now and all it will offer in the Future to come. I highly recommend Hiraeth. Thanks for reading.
Game kept crashing all the time, had to refund.
The game is graphically super beautiful, since the last update no crashes, the game runs wonderfully thanks to DLSS, the best is coming I hope, Survivor put this game aside. Good game
I originally enjoyed the game. It just has a ton of issues on early release. My game keeps crashing along with many others. It is an issue the game creators will have to deal with. It is their fault and they will have to learn how to create a game without all these mechanical conditions of error. Other then this, it could turn out to be a great game, once they get past their technical issues. I do not recommend this game until they fix it.
Needs alot of work. Walking and moving is not good enough. Clicking on items is difficult, i got stuck alot of times, no save games in training. Graphics are good. This can be a good game in the future but for now..... mmmmeeeeh. Just give it a tumbs up in hopes they will improve it and because i have high hopes it will be a good game in the future.
Although a good start, I will wait for more time to pass to see where this game is at after a few more major updates as it is still very much rough around the edges. I had to deal two or three times with freezing screens overlay on another (the discussions states this was fixed, it isn't yet), so hopefully soon. Found the Lock-picking Mini Game a bit frustrating, so gave up on trying any further with the mini game. It doesn't look like the Dev is to happy with constructive feedback about the mini game either: "this is intentional – inertia is something you have to control. Shift only speeds up the rotation. I might consider no inertia for easy mode someday, but definitely not anytime soon, and I'm not sure if I'll ever change it. This is supposed to be a challenge."). So i'll just opt out of lock picking in the future, even if i lose out on items. The Dev is active, so that is positive, meaning there should be good progress and the game could be a very good title when finally completed. I would personally wait for at least another 1 or 2 major updates in EA to check and see the progress of the game. More than happy to give the thumbs up when there is more in this game and be happy to recommend this game then to others even if the Dev doesn't want to fine tune the lock-picking mini game.
bonjour a tous je fait une petit evaluation au bout de 4h de gameplay que dire les graphisme sont beaux le systeme d'inventaire au top je recomande je ferait une autre eval durant les prochaine maj
Initially it was crashing every once and now, but the developer fixed it. I think there is a lot of work ahead, but the developer is constantly releasing bug fixes and stuff. For now look spromising.
