As someone who really liked Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, I wanted to give this game a fair chance. This is actually my third attempt trying to force myself through Metro Exodus, but I am officially giving up. It is just too frustrating to play. The core issue is that the movement feels like it was designed for a linear game, making exploration in an open world feel completely miserable, clunky, and exhausting. Everything about the gameplay loop pushes you toward stealth, yet the stealth mechanics are atrocious and poorly implemented. The pacing is also ruined by endless dialogue dumps. When you are at the camps, certain NPCs talk way too much just for the sake of it, and characters frequently talk over each other, making the story feel needlessly dragged out and annoying to listen to. To make matters worse, the vehicle handling in the Caspian is terrible. The car drives like sludge and has an awful steering delay—when you turn left or right, you literally have to wait for the wheels to straighten out on their own, and counter-steering doesn't help at all. If you liked the first two games, be warned: changing this series into an open-world game was a massive mistake. I'm shutting it off and watching the rest of the story on YouTube.
