In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the Earth's surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age. The year is 2033.

this game blows. an easy (even on hardest difficulty) jank fest with a middling story for slackjawed idiots to gawk at. boring mechanics; cinematics that last far too long and meaningless gameplay. waste of time
decent 7.5/10
beautiful game
def the best game ever made, the story is amazing, touched my heart in a different way from other games, this is unique, and amazing masterpiece, i just finished 2033 redux and im going to move on to last light redux and exodus, and all i can say is, amazing story.
The game has a great story and the Metro series as a whole is amazing, but boy, was this game hard for me to get through. Put it down twice before finally sticking through and finishing it. Monsters were insanely tanky. Nosalises would attack in packs and frequently take 3-4 shotgun shells center-mass at point blank. I don't know how many times I would need to reload my shotgun 5 times to kill six monsters, all while trying to dodge them or just tanking the damage. The morals system wasn't clear. How does snooping on conversations and stumbling across random corpses make Artyom more in touch with the world and his morality? I only understood it while reading the wiki after finishing the game. Now, I have heard that upping the difficulty makes monsters less tanky (at the cost of your own fortitude) and the morals system is whatever since the canon ending is the one most people get. So, taking that into consideration, I can see it being an enjoyable game but the way I played it, it just was not. Worth it for the intro into the universe, but not for the headache
