oh man. metal wolf chaos... its so awesome. i love being the president of the united states and running around in a big mech and stomping on tanks and helicopters, i LOVE the cheesy lines and the humor, and i love the music. all in all this is the most american game i have ever played, and i love every bit of it. WHY I CANNOT RECOMMEND: the performance is utter ♥♥♥♥, even on my powerful pc. i literally can't even beat the second mission because i get right to the end and the game crashes. such a damn shame. EDIT: ok, so i did figure out what was going on (or at least part of it). apparently, some missions (san francisco, grand canyon) are just glitchy and when i would take to long to complete the mission it would crash, so farming for the achievements was tough to manage. i think that this is just a weird glitch that is unique to me, because my bro can play this game just fine with zero issues.
From Software's greatest creation, god I wish they would go back to being this good.
Happy 250th birthday America! I played through this game on the 4th of July in celebration for a landmark in American history. Metal Wolf Chaos XD is the infamous mech game where you play as the President of the United States of America in a mech suit trying to save the USA from the evil Vice President who took over. This game was originally on the original Xbox and exclusive to Japan, fun fact one of the reasons why it wasn't ported outside of Japan or to the United States was because the developers of this game thought Americans would be offended by how overtly patriotic this game portrays America. The irony is that this game is one of the most patriotic American video games I have ever played and it wasn't even made by Americans it was made by the Japanese. The original Xbox version of this game is pretty rare, mainly due to the fact that the Xbox brand does not sell very well in Japan so not many people bought this game back in the day over there. FromSoftware nowadays is mostly known for the Dark Souls series, back in the day when this game was new on the original Xbox they were known for Kings Field and their mech series Armored Core. I have never played a Armored Core game before so I dunno how similar this game is to that series, but I feel like the designs of how the mechs look is kinda similar. Gameplay is pretty meh, some missions are not very good and you are usually destroying specific structures listed on the map to complete levels. Your mech can use two different guns at the same time which you can swap to something else, I feel like some certain weapon types are pointless I mostly used machine guns, bazookas, and the rail gun. The dialogue in the game is horrendous which is probably because this game was originally meant only for the Japanese audience so they probably didn't care if the English dialogue and conversations in the game make little sense or sounds like Engrish. Overall if I were to rate this game for the era it came out I would give it a 6/10 but a 11/10 for American patriotism :3 Worth playing if you want to experience an absurd game but not necessarily "good" or has a good presentation. In general this game feels like a love letter to America God bless the United States! May this republic live for a very long time
nice cheesy and brilant voice acting. Gameplay is pure fun and the commentary during gameplay is utterly ridicules funny. You get ♥♥♥♥ talked when u take too much damage with context on the stage ur in lmao. Music is nice. Weapons are sick, alot of hidden moves u can figure out yourself and u can just turbo boost yourself while holding double minigungs and obliterate everything on your way trough. Back in the original 360 it has insane lags cuz of it but now my modern toaster can handle it. Had a cult classic following in the end im glad to experience it in english. Originaly it was released with the voice acting in japan 360 xbox only. Truly what a lucky timeline we life in
I firmly believe that finishing this game should get you at least a green card, since you clearly have the heart and soul of a true American! Anyway, Devolver knew exactly what they were doing porting this game into the west, because despite its gameplay being so plain and uninteresting, the rest is just so sick and hilarious that it still shines. Pick this one up, in the name of FREEDOM!
ammazying game vary iconic. vary American.
Can't get through the 2nd mission without the game crashing.
funny and very much a product of the 2000s, however, the bullet spongey enemies and overly long levels did me in. Pretty good, but not $25 good.
badass
In all honesty, the game is great, without too many bugs, and the aim assist isn't a real challenge. Your armoured character makes you look like a badass. You can be frustrated by two maps if you don't take the time to farm to level up your arms. And you know what ? It's a great one because I'm the President of this great United States of America.
