Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Metal Gear review: I could not imagine playing this without a guide, you will either die 24/7 or be sent further back into the game which is infuriating. BUT THE SOUNDTRACK ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BANGS HOLYYYYY WHY IS IT SO GAH DAMN GOOD Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake review: I enjoyed this a lot more than Metal Gear. The story, the gameplay, the equipment, everything was better in this. Also why are neither of the original Metal Gear Soundtracks on Spotify??? Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2 have some absolute bangers! Metal Gear 6/10, Metal Gear 2 8/10
If you want to play these games, stay away from the Steam versions. These games appear to be based off of cell phone ports which run at 30 fps which makes them slow, unresponsive, and blurry experiences. Play them on Retroarch, or even better using a Mister FPGA hooked up to a CRT television. They play so much faster and smoother. I promise you, these games didn't feel this sluggish or look this choppy back in the day. They don't do the original versions justice. Bad Konami. Preserve your IP.
I can't recommend this game to anyone until KONAMI fixes this game. It was running perfectly and I was having a great time until, just before the climax of METAL GEAR 2: Solid Snake, the game crashed and would launch with an audio-less black screen. All I could do was Alt+F4 to close it. I never got to finish. So yeah, great game, but don't buy it if you want to actually finish the games.
input lag in each game is horrendous, almost a full second delay between pressing a button and seeing it do something. Unplayable, emulation gives a way better experience.
I'll say that it does a good job of being a way to play these games, but I could not in good conscience recommend playing this to another human being. I can't speak for MG2, but the original MG was just so difficult in such a stupid and annoying way that you only see in old games. Beating this game going off of nothing but the included online manual and the things the game tell you would be not just difficult but miserable, as a fairly important codec number is entirely miss-able due to a bug in a room. You will be perfectly fine skipping these games and going straight into MGS1, as MGS1 practically assumes you haven't even played these games as far as I can tell.
I never played any of the Metal Gear games before, but they always seemed intriguing. So here I am starting with the originals, and man they are cool but definitely relics of their time. That golden age where you got a game and you damn well better figure it out because that's the only game you had. There is so much archaic and obtuse stuff in here. It's charming for sure but I'll fully admit to using a guide to get through both. 2 is definitely the better of the games and seems to be showcasing Kojima's love for self referential movie like storytelling. Fully recommend that anyone who wants to have a fuller understanding of the classics and how we got here checks these gems out.
Im sure the games were great for their time, I just simply dont think theyre really worth playing anymore
Save system should be changable to normal saving as almost any games ever does it.
Save system does not trigger a notification of checkpoint reached, no matter how much work you did in that area, as long as you didn't went into a room that counts as checkpoint, your progress won't be saved. which ultimately means that manual saves simply does not serve any purpose! WTF?! It's auto save basically doesn't matter aswell as it's not triggered by "getting out of an alert", "entering a new screen" or timer based! It's literally "you know what? let's make this one screen a checkpoint, and add a manual save system that the only purpose is to know if you crossed a check point somewhere to update the play time on save file"
I wasn't a fan of Metal Gear 1. Metal Gear 2 at least had more depth and better music and I would definitely have went and finish it if it wasn't for the save system
Since I only spent about 30 minutes running around almost aimlessly in metal gear 1, i won't review it as I barely know anything about it... Metal gear 2 on the other hand, definitely has decent music, the directions are still "idk, go everywhere and figure it out, lol" The mechanics were definitely superior, such as ability to crouch, crawl and have a radar to see the adjascent rooms and enemies. In both games, you can randomly be spotted instantly, which is really bad when you're already fleeing to find a spot to hide. Most obvious pick for places to hide are unreliable and often placed too far to even make use of. The games rewards memorizing everything over rewarding skills.
Bit of reasoning behind purchase
I bought it to get the entire Metal Gear/Solid franchise on Steam, at least to get some right now and when I got more cash, to get the remaining ones. I was intrigued to play the originals as I never played those ones and was in the mood to play retro games like Mega Man and other 8-16bit games... I somewhat enjoyed Metal Gear 2, but the save mechanic is just unreliable and punishing for no good reason. And I recently got manual saves problems like this for Mega Man 7 and 8 earlier this week. My patience has run thin over unreliable save systems.
Absolutely fantastic retro games! I will say Metal Gear 1 has not aged as well as Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. However if you get stuck, just look up a walkthrough for the first game, it can be annoying, especially with the repetitive music, but it has a retro charm to it which I kind of enjoy despite its tedious nature. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake however is the main star here! outstanding soundtrack, fantastic atmosphere, radar, better mechanics, better graphics, tighter gameplay, and more! it is a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the original game and is an absolute blast to play! Don't sleep on these! they're great! so give them a chance! :)
