Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Neat little package of extra stuff. The original 2 games with cheats menu enabled, 2 visual novels recapping the events of MGS 1 & 2, and a soundtrack menu. Worth downloading just to see the visual novel style.
What are we doing here Konami. Literally can't even get past the terms and conditions, refunded.
It’s basically Kojima homework. Art, lore, music, chaos, vibes, all in one place. Not essential, but damn, it feels classy. sweet little extra

I haven't watched the graphic novels yet, but the games run just fine and they include optional scanlines and screen smoothing. On the negative side, the OST included is in .m4a format and at 129 kbps at best. In other words: low quality audio.
Most of the Master Collection Vol.1 is enjoyable, especially Metal Gear Solid 1 to 3, but I would not recommend getting the Bonus Content. It is basically a compendium of one or two digital graphic novels (but being honest, you could go watch those online) and spinoffs of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 games, which are retro style with a top-down isometric view. Unless you enjoy the type of old games that can be confusing without a guide and have repetitive soundtracks that drill into your ears, don't get it. Some of the Bonus Content is very buggy; as soon as you turn on the game, it starts jumping into random locations, before glitching back to the title screen. Do NOT spend your money on the Bonus Content. If you do get it, good luck soldier.
DO NOT BUY THIS!!! BUY THE HD COLLECTION FOR XBOX 360 (play it via back compat onthe Sh*tbox or Sh*tStation !!! you get Peace Walker, MGS 2 and 3 and they are ALLLLLLLL 60fps 1080p. and its only 30$ DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! Its a effing SCAM!!!! THIS IS NOT WORTH 60$ i feel gutted knowing i just wasted my money on this crap. If I had known about the HD Colection ibefore hand ida refunded this. Why Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker wasnt included with this is insane. It LITERALLY is REQUIRED to play Phantom Pain and bridges the gap between MGS3 and MGS6: TPP
It gives you another version of Metal Gear, the much-maligned non-canon Snake's Revenge (which is NES-game frustrating at times with the random deaths for stepping onto a cable car wrong or random floors appearing, but that was the style at the time and it has its own retro charm), and the graphic novel videos of MGS1 and 2, which are fun although the story is changed in some odd ways (especially the climax of MGS2).
A few neat extras packaged along with the MGS Master Collection. For some reason, the NES version of the original Metal Gear is included! What, you thought AVGN was kidding about how bad this version of the game is? Now you can find out for yourself! Worth messing with for a laugh, and thanks to save states, you no longer have to play that jungle sequence OVER AND OVER again! That is, if you really want to play more than 10 minutes of this version at all! On the other hand, Snake's Revenge is actually a halfway decent game! It also has a terrible jungle sequence, but once you get past that, you are treated to a competent stealth experience, on the NES no less! In addition to the typical stealth gaming, there are also side scrolling action sequences (that can also be played stealthily, if you are good enough). Although well programmed for once, the NES sequel is incredibly difficult, possibly the most difficult Metal Gear game ever made! Worth playing once you've mastered the (admittedly far superior) MSX games. There's also a few other extras, like movies, digital comic books, and a compilation OST, which you can listen to from the player itself, or do a little sleuthing and find the location of the actual files! Again, nothing here is "essential content," but it's still a decent way to round out the collection. I would've preferred the inclusion of Ghost Babel or Portable Ops, but perhaps we'll see those in Volume 2 someday?
