About
Two sides. One brutal war.
Men of War: Vietnam brings the acclaimed real-time tactics series into a new theater of war – the jungles of Southeast Asia, 1968. Experience the chaos of the Vietnam War through two story-driven campaigns that reveal both sides of the conflict.
In the U.S. campaign, you’ll command an elite team of Special Forces soldiers – Sergeant John Merrill, machine gunner Jim Walsh, sniper Sonny Armstrong, grenadier Carl Dillan, and combat engineer Bill Kirby. Each mission throws them into impossible situations: deep behind enemy lines, cut off from reinforcements, relying only on skill, courage, and each other.
The North Vietnamese campaign tells a different story – one of survival and endurance. Two Soviet advisors and two NVA soldiers, the only survivors of an ambush, must fight their way home through enemy territory, across Cambodia, Laos, and the Mekong Delta during the chaos of the Tet Offensive.
Missions range from stealth operations and rescues to full-scale assaults, ambushes, and desperate defenses. Dense jungles, narrow trails, and muddy rivers become both allies and enemies, testing every tactical instinct you have.
Two story-driven campaigns – fight the war from both perspectives: U.S. Special Forces and the North Vietnamese Army.
Authentic combat scenarios – ambushes on the Ho Chi Minh trail, raids into Cambodia and Laos, bridge defenses, and urban battles during the Tet Offensive.
New era, new arsenal – wield iconic weapons like the M16, AK-47, RPG-2, M60, and M72 LAW, and command vehicles such as the T-54, M113, and Patton III.
4-player co-op multiplayer – tackle missions together with friends. Men of War is affected by the GameSpy shutdown on the 31st of May. You can continue to play the game through LAN, DirectIP and GameRanger.
Cinematic atmosphere – rock ’n’ roll radio, Hueys over the jungle, and the heat of 1968 brought to life.

Vietnam is a unique entry in the Men of War series that shifts the focus from large scale WWII battles to the more personal, brutal conflicts of the Vietnam War. Instead of massive armies, the game leans into small squad based engagements, which gives it a very different pace and feel compared to its predecessors. One of the standout aspects is the atmosphere. The dense jungles, tight sightlines, and constant sense of danger do a great job of capturing the tension of the setting. You’re often moving carefully, unsure of what’s ahead, and fights can break out suddenly and end just as quickly. The game features two campaigns one from the U.S. perspective and one from the North Vietnamese side which adds some variety and helps show both sides of the conflict. Gameplay wise, it sticks closely to the classic Men of War formula. You control individual soldiers, manage inventory, scavenge weapons, and can directly control units for more precise actions. This level of control is still impressive, but it also means the game has a steep learning curve. Missions can feel punishing, and success often comes down to patience and careful planning rather than quick reactions. That said, the game does have its rough edges. AI can be inconsistent, pathfinding isn’t always reliable, and some missions feel more frustrating than challenging. The pacing can also be uneven certain missions drag on longer than they should, while others end just as they start to get interesting. Compared to other entries in the series, it can feel a bit more limited in scope and replayability. Still, what it lacks in scale, it makes up for in atmosphere and intensity. It’s a more focused, grounded experience that emphasizes survival and tactics over spectacle.
Diabolical difficulty
insgesamt gut. kann es empfehlen.
Not necessarily the weakest entry in the Men of War series, however certainly one of the more challenging. The change in scenery from the eastern front of WW2 is welcome, however navigating the jungle can be problematic. The complexity of jungle navigation and the high level of difficulty are the 2 main reasons why Men of War Vietnam currently has a mixed/negative steam rating. The game does however benefit from a great storyline and better voice acting than previous releases. Proper mission briefing intros have been included which enhances the atmosphere. The jungle setting is unique and makes the playthrough memorable, though challenging at times. There is also a larger emphasis of stealth in this MoW entry, fans of the enormous battles of previous titles may be disappointed. The difficulty is quite high, anyone aiming to 100% achievements will be in for a challenge (hard setting is ridiculous imo). I recommend this game, however, for any newcomers, this should not be your first foray into the Men of War series. You need a solid understanding in the mechanics of Men of War, and squad tactics to have any chance of success.
Men of War: Vietnam
Man......This game crashes constantly, its fun, the foliage and trees are pretty sweet given its age but sweet jesus, save often and get ready to do the same thing over and over as it crashes, I want to recommend this game but I just can't in this condition. If you do play this game, watch out for the spike traps
