I found that Merc's was not my really my gameplay style so I was interested in clans when it released as it looked like it was much more single player focuses, linear and structured. After I played clans for the first time I imediatley purchased flash storm and subsequently the clan wolf DLC. I am now going back through the campaigns a second time playing in COOP. Highly recommend.
Everything Mechwarrior 5 should have been, glory to Kerensky!

I am severely dissapointed by encounters design & balance. I have completed Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries on highest difficulty, yet here it takes me 1 hour+ for each of last missions with my mechs being crippled beyond repair on Novice (!) difficulty. Please mind, I was playing MW5: Clans on highest difficulty till last mission of act IV, it was quite okay till then, but then the game balance completely went off rails. Who thought it is a good idea to setup missions in such manner that your star is thrown against 2 battalions of clan mechs and field repairs at best are once per mission? How does it work that game throws same number of enemies on Novice as on Expert? And assault mechs that you have in end game... No omnimechs with Endo-Steel? No Ferro armor? 40 front armor on side by default on assault by default (i.e. 6 ER M Laser hits melt front armor completely, 3 melt rear armor --- literaly single enemy Nova-Prime one hits your torso)? No way to increase Executioner frontal armor on torso beyond 74? Wth is that. Only viable option is relying on long range, otherwise you are focused down the next second you come close to enemies. Especially with Elite enemies in the endgame, that all hit just 1 location. Did I mention that on Novice you have same amount of Elite enemies as on Expert? Changing difficulty only changes amount of damage you receive and slightly modifies hit chance with enemy AI not behaving differently at all (same as in MW5: Mercenaries - all together focusing unit who does most damage...) Friendlies AI is hilarious. Even with disabled friendly fire, my own IS friendlies still were melting my rear. My clanmates AI is a joke, enemy's Timberwolf is right between my 4 friendly mechs - instead of melting it into ash, they are running to the far target. What a mess, back to HBS Battletech and MW5: Mercenaries.
Good
the year is 3145,even the nova cats has been destroyed by DCMS. there is only War, and war never changes
Just as I was admiring how good of a game this is, as I get to the next planet to the Turtle Bay mission terrible FPS stuttering emerges and google search shows a handful of similar complaints beginning at the same mission. This seems to make the game entirely unplayable! What a shame, because I was really starting to enjoy this. Changed back to positive as problem is "solved" :)
As a fan of Mechwarrior I had fun with this, there are some issues with stability but it got better as the dlc's went on. I think the weapons being rebalanced and some better AI would help go along way with this game.
Enorme jeu de merde
I really like this game overall - but I kinda see where it neither satisfies fans of the setting nor newcomers - for the latter there is very little lore information available outside the movies and for fans the salvage system, mechlab, research and pilot XP are maybe a bit too dumbed down. TLDR: if you really enjoyed the more story driven missions with individual maps in MW5 Mercs you will really like this (especially if the more grindy part in that game is maybe a bit too much or less enjoable. other way around it might be harder.... also the amount of mechs thrown at you is pretty insane in some missions you really ´going to struggle hard with more ammo dependend mech loadouts. on the third hand you can put 16 MG on your adder and leg assault mechs all day long - in a way this is the first mechwarrior title where I really have been using light mechs in higher tiers which is kinda nice.
I like it better then MW5 Mercs. Maybe because im a Clan fanboy ^_^
