Honestly I have no idea why this is Mixed or Mostly positive. Yes, it's much different from Mercenaries and performance is not great however the game does look considerably better. I understand some people are thrown off with how linear the game is and how mech customization works now. Some mechs can be customized just like in Mercs, but finally they've added engines to be customized. But most mechs, are clan related, called Omni-mechs. These come with presents and don't allow for much modifcation. This is a linear campaign! And it makes sense, because it follows the clans. The most annoying thing for me is still the friendly AI. You can now command them better via map which is great, but they still do the "get down Mr. President!" for enemies and come into your lilne of fire. Map design, which usually can be quite narrow, exaggerates that issue. All that said... It is SO MUCH FUN! Yes some characters are cringe and their facial expressions are... Odd. Still, I think this is a strong game, offering a long playthrough and DLCs are even better than base game. I'd say if you're a mechwarrior fan, getting the game on sale is a must.

You can feel that its old people making the cutscenes, but there's a certain charm to it. Gameplay and mech customification is top notch. Co-op got the most fun out of it for me.
Normal difficulty on this game feels like advanced level compared to MW5: Mercenaries. I'm on the 4th mission with zero weapons left just watching dropship after dropship of enemy mechs fall and have nothing to do about it. I have over 500hrs in Mercenaries, this is a very different game.
I came into this game to drive a mech into battle, not manage and finance a small team that walk in front of my shots 60% of the time. between the shaders cache rebuilding and the cut scenes deciding to not load chunks of people, this has fallout level graphic bugs with none of the humor. You'll spend a fourth of the game in loading scenes, another fourth in poor voiceovers, another fourth managing your crew and equipment, and then maybe another fourth actually playing the game. If you want a mech fighting game go play mercenaries instead.
The character animations are great. The story is cheese, the AI is complete dog. It would be better if the team mate mechs didn't move at all. 10 hours, uninstall and utterly delete from my account. Worst AI I have played with in a decade. The lance doesn't shoot very much at all unless I order them to attack and then the walk straight in and all bunch up in a ball with the same stupid enemy AI and so the fights just turn in to a low D rate for a console equivalent of a shooter. This game is complete and utter trash, except for the animations, of the characters, they are pretty good. The mech animations are not good at all, weightless bouncy like a basketball.
Mech pew pew game - a genre too rare than it should be Feels quite antique as well - even has boss aircraft that you shoot at for 10 minutes You can't customize mechs as much as in other mechwarrior games and the plot and characters don't really make much sense unless you've read the books from 40 years ago or at least a wiki. There technically is a choice between what kind of last mission you would like and that's about it.
When I buy a game with a narrative campaign, I want to be allowed to play it in a way that feels immersive. Like an interactive, atmospheric story from this great science-fiction universe — and not like a highly competitive PvP MWO where it’s all about min-maxing power builds, perfect damage trading, and mastering maps, team tactics, and match flow just to have a chance later on. Why include such a huge variety of equipment and so much freedom for tinkering in a narrative game if, in the end, laser-vomit is basically the only viable option? Why make a Clan warrior of the Smoke Jaguars the main character when the game forces you into sending your AI companions ahead as the only sensible tactic, while you’re supposed to hang back hesitantly so you’re not immediately blown out of the cockpit by the supernaturally large number of endlessly spawning waves of soulless Inner Sphere kamikaze pilots? And if I have to repeatedly restart missions (already the first ones on normal difficulty!) just to memorize maps, story triggers, and enemy configurations so I can beat the mission on yet another attempt with my fully optimized Nova Star like some kind of prophet, all immersion is gone for me. A shame… MechWarrior as a soulslike just doesn’t work for me.
A decently enjoyable game, a bit heavy on the requirements and had occasional bad performance despite a good pc. The story is decent, parts of it were fantastic, other parts quite dissapointing. Feels like some of the characters needed more time to shine. The omnimech system is quite good and enjoyable to play with. Lots and LOTS of crashes for me in the menu, seems to be an AMD issue. Im recommending it, but if i could, id give it an ehh.. Buy on sale.
Extremely unstable game and runs awful. I tried to grin and bear it for as long as I could since I'm a MW fan, but I just couldn't.
- Clans do Clans things.
