Max Payne is a man with nothing to lose in the violent, cold urban night. A fugitive undercover cop framed for murder, hunted by cops and the mob, Max is a man with his back against the wall, fighting a battle he cannot hope to win. Prepare for pain…

Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

4 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
4 on sale11 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 11 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 4 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Use this to make it playable: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1633394421 This game is an absolute classic. The atmosphere alone makes the game stellar. Remedy really was ahead of the curve when it came to storytelling, especially in the PC shooter market of its era. The graphic novel-style cutscenes and metaphorical language give this game a unique charm, making it truly stand out from anything else. It makes the game feel like more than just a typical revenge story, which is a testament to the quality of the writing here. Visiting the game for the first time in 2026 did make me point at the screen at times. Its influence is evident; Max Payne was certainly an innovator in games throughout the 2000s. The nightmare sections in each act's prologue have been used many times in other games since, although this game does them far better. I'm glad the platforming sections along those red blood trails weren't replicated, though. Between the chunky gunplay, movement, bullet time and shootdodges, the gameplay in this game is superb and still holds up. It is a difficult game, but every shooter with a quicksave function generally is. I mean, it's there for a reason. Game deserves a negative review really, seeing as in its not exactly playable without fixes. The authors of the mods deserve a cut as without them, you couldnt play this game as intended anymore.
Max Payne is my spirit animal.
I really enjoyed it when it was released and now as well. Challenging game which is worth playing through.
Deeply neat game, surprisingly reminded me of Katana Zero with the unforgiving gameplay(forgive the incorrect direction of the comparison, only got around to playing this last year, while katana zero has been one of my favorites for years) and time slowdown. Sadly the steam version is sorta broken and doesnt work on modern systems, took a number of fixes to get it working.
I love this game and it's so replayable. There's some parts that definitely could be improved but it is a classic nonetheless
Nebudem pisat nic viac ako hraj kurna!
