best 3rd person shooter to ever do it
I never had any nostalgic, warm, or positive memories of Max Payne 3. Somewhere around 2013, a classmate gave me a bunch of discs for my PS3. There were GTA IV, Battlefield 3, and a bunch of other games that I had already finished by that point. And then my eyes landed on Max Payne 3. To be honest, I was surprised that there was even a third Max Payne, just as much as I was surprised by his sudden baldness. Was Max a pizza delivery guy, a plumber, or maybe even a doctor after leaving the police? After installing Maxus the Third, I played until roughly the stadium level and then deleted the game, thinking: “What the hell is this?” It felt too flashy, almost epileptic. Besides, back then, when I was still a school kid, I wasn’t really interested in digging into game stories, figuring out why a certain character was interesting, or what message the author was trying to convey. The next day, I gave the disc back to my classmate and said: “Give me something better.” At release, Max Payne 3 received high praise but also divided players and critics. Many pointed out that as a shooter, it was one of the best games of its generation: great gunplay, smarter AI, the Euphoria system, and realistic physics. If in the first two games you could dive in bullet time without worrying about walls or objects around you, in the third game Max could actually crash into the environment and go down with it. But it was no longer the same Max. The rainy New York, stylish comic panels, and the dark atmosphere of the first two games were gone. They were replaced by a more realistic approach: dynamic editing, sharp visual transitions that sometimes gave you a headache, as if we were inside Max’s head ourselves - just without the two Berettas. Thirteen years after my first time playing Max Payne 3, I can say that it is the best conclusion to the trilogy. Not only because of its gameplay features, which are still impressive today, but also because of Max’s story itself. It is the final chapter of a character who has gone through pain and self-destruction. The true “exclamation mark on everything that had led to this point.” And yes, I am even willing to forgive the game for those epileptic editing choices. And since I compared the first two parts to the movie “The Matrix,” I can’t really bring the third Matrix movie into this comparison. But another analogy comes to mind. If the first two games are like auteur, distinctive, low-budget films, then the third one is a full-scale blockbuster on the level of Michael Bay’s “Transformers”: expensive, spectacular, and completely different in spirit.
This game is more of a third person shooting game with a decent storyline, graphics, and aesthetics. This game is a must try if you want to play a shooting game and you like to play a game, where you have to kill too many military guards in a succession of rounds with multiple types of weapons to use.
this game makes you FEEL like you're playing as a bald, middle aged, out-of-his-prime, out-of-shape, bald, depressed, alcoholic, bald drug addict, and i love it.
Лучший линейный шутер от 3 лица, движок шикарный
fun as hell
Controls are clunky as f. Graphics are dated and facial animation is atrocious. wireless controllers don't work properly. And Rockstar launcher is an icing on the cake.
99.9% cutscenes 00.1% shooting. Is this a game or a movie? ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game except the cool shooting and dying animations, other than that i suffered playing this.
simplesmente o MELHOR max payne ja feito, ate hoje (2026) um dos jogos mais bonitos que eu ja vi e olha que o jogo ja é antigo
