I love mass effect so much however I cant believe how poorly optimized this game is on pc and somehow the xbox 360 version is ten times better then it. The game crashes very often, there is no built in controller support. Not to mention getting both dlc's to work (which isnt hard) just silly you have to do extra work to get it to work. I do not know how you pc players have been dealing with this for years. If it wasnt for the pinnacle station dlc and the fact i make mass effect videos I probably will only play Mass effect Legendary edition from now on and I highly recommend anyone who thinks of getting this version to simply buy the legendary edition instead.
This is the game that made me fall in love with the whole universe. It’s a little old and clunky now, sure, but the atmosphere, the writing, and the world-building are still incredible. The first time you get to the Citadel, it really feels like you’ve stepped into a huge sci-fi world that existed long before you arrived. Different species, politics, history, weird rules, shady people in clean offices — it all feels bigger than just “go shoot the bad guy.” Even the Codex is interesting, which is a sentence I don’t say often unless a game has tricked me into reading homework and enjoying it. The Normandy also feels special right away. Talking to the crew, learning about the galaxy, making choices, slowly building Shepard’s place in all of this — that’s the heart of the game for me. The combat may not be as smooth as the later games, and yes, the Mako sometimes drives like it was assembled by optimistic interns, but I still love it. It has that rare feeling of a first chapter that actually matters. Big ideas, great lore, memorable characters, and a sense of mystery that makes the whole trilogy work. Still a classic.
Masterpiece
Great game, great lore, great atmosphere.
A bit old and full of glitches, voice actin gcould also be better, that being said so far I've thouroughly enjoyed this game. It's a great blend of star trek world building with Space Odyssey lore, the gameplay is fun, it's difficult enough to be fun without it being infuriating and really feels like a whole movie of it's own if it was playable. I definitly see how this has become a classic.
Playing it after almost 20 years after it came out. Yes it got a little bit old but the pleasure is still here. Love the story, the combat system, the exploration. This is such an immersive game plenty of nice stories and characters. This game will never be out of my all time list.
It's Mass Effect.
