Game starts kinda slow. You'll spend the first chapter going "okay, robot-shooting, fine" Push through it. Chapter 2 is where the game starts to thrive, you've got almost your full squad assembled, the banter kicks in, the world opens up, you can now actually talk to people and get to know them. Side NPCs scattered around the environments don't have anything that special to say, but they make the world feel lived-in rather than just a shooting gallery. Whoever designed the default button layout and controls was either a visionary genius or a war criminal, and I have not yet decided which. Mouse acceleration feels like it was designed by someone who has never touched a mouse. Button prompts in-game reference controller buttons even when you're on keyboard, or just wrong button overall. Do yourself a favour: rebind everything before you even load your first save, tweak sensitivity. You can try to use a controller, but it might lead to another therapy session. Your choice. The voice recognition system lets you actually talk to your squadmates. Give orders. Build relations. Form bonds. I used this power responsibly and scientifically. First, I told jokes to Bo. Multiple jokes. Good jokes, even. The man did not laugh even once. Not a chuckle. Not a pity smile. Stone cold. Respect honestly, true professional. Then I tried flirting with Faye. She decided that my microphone had stopped working. It hadn't. She just chose not to acknowledge my existence. The most accurate character writing. Faye is a woman of standards and I respect her for it. I have spent 2 hours testing the exact boundaries of how many times I can accidentally grenade Big Bo before he stops being my friend. The answer is seven. Seven grenades. He is very forgiving. Then, purely out of curiosity and in the name of science, I said something I should not have said to Bo, I will not repeat what it was. Bo doxed me in-game, the trust level went so negative. I have had voice recognition turned off ever since, and I disconnect from the internet while playing, just in case. At the end of Chapter 2 there's an infinite enemy horde section. Do not rush through it. It's the perfect farming spot to max out trust with your two active companions before you move on. Future you will be grateful. The game is around 11-13 hours long, and the ending actually changes depending on your squad's trust levels going into the final battle, so the Chapter 2 horde grind isn't just fun, it's investment.

Great game, get it cheap! If you want to use a controller, turn it on after the SEGA logo. This will fix the controller mapping. Enjoy it!
The controller binder is out of whack on the XBOX controller , hopped to keyboard , wasn't any better. I really wanted to try and love this game but the controller and key biding is all out of whack. As someone else also pointed out the use of voice commands hot garbage. In the humble words from randy from "American idol" its going to be a No from me dawg".
Hooooooly ♥♥♥♥... If, like me, you stumbled across some clips and thought 'hey this game looks funny as ♥♥♥♥, if nothing else - I think imma give it a try', DO NOT ACT ON THAT IMPULSE. The game looks decent for it's age; but that's about the only good thing I can say. It went all-in on a gimmick that I guess was it's major selling point when it was first released - being that you could use your mic to talk to your NPC partner. Cool idea - piss-poor execution. Fortunately, it's optional... you'd be missing out on a cool feature, but you don't *need* it. But what renders the game flat out unplayable is the controller bug. L&R2 being up and down, start & select being aim & fire... with the rest being just as incomprehensible. Over a decade and the devs never made a fix for it, there isn't even a fix in nexus. Worse still, there's no integrated means of customizing controls. Don't waste your time or money 0/10
welp, it crashes cutscenes after cutscenes even if its like 35 to 40 fps the game is always forcing itself to crash making it unplayable for me, the story was great so far but the crashes are unlimited
Don't let the prep work to get this game running the way you desire, deter you away from this project. Go to pcgamingwikidotcom and download the widescreen support for that car windshield you call a monitor. There's also methods to turn off mouse acceleration, among other things. The voice acting is great, the combat controls feels less and less janky to smooth the longer you play. The SFX is amazing, the sound of the bullets hitting metal and your loud ass squad mates yelling words of encouragement or detest never get tiresome. It's chaotic as hell, cheesy, charming, and fun, but a 80/90tys action movie depicted in the future kinda fun.
Amazing game loved the entire game and story line, need a sequel to this
