Mashinky is a transport strategy game about trains. The goal is to create your own transport empire on a procedurally generated map. It’s a unique blend of realistic graphics combined with an isometric construction mode and board game-like rules.

With over 410 hours on this game, yes some spent AFK, I can say this. This game has come along very nicely, its a very chill game and you can pretty much go at your own pace. Its a lot of fun figuring out how to connect your towns and resources in the most efficient ways. The additiong of trucks, and now i must admit i havent yet played with the planes yet, this game has come to a next level! Its EA for awhile, but I understand this is a single develeper and what he has created is a masterpiece. If you like tycoon sims, or trian sims (yes you can ride inside the trains and control them), this game is a must have. Thank you Jan!
I'm enjoying this game however game keeps crashing. Untill it's fixed i'll keep on saving as i'm building my empire.
I'm writing this review taking into consideration it's still in early access and I have yet to fully explore everything this game has to offer; So far I'm really enjoying my time in Mashinky. I played OpenTTD a lot and was looking for another transport game in my library and stumbled upon this. Players of similar transport games will get used very quickly to the interface and how to build things. It's very intuitive and within no-time at all I found myself easily building rail networks with junctions, signals and whatnot. I will say that the pacing of the game is much slower compared to something like OpenTTD, especially with early trains accelerating very slowly. Is this necessarily a bad thing? No, cause it's way more realistic but I did have to flip an internal switch to adapt to how slow trains accelerate and really take that into considering when it comes to avoiding bottlenecks. With the game being still in early access, there is no campaign yet. The only thing is a tutorial and a sandbox mode, with possibly 'quests' to keep you motivated to reach the next checkpoint so to say. I'm assuming this will be added later to the game as it's being developed but we'll see. Graphics wise it's also really neat. You can toggle between two viewing modes; One which is realistic and one building view. The building view makes everything very simplistic and gives you a very clear isometric view of the map, making it a breeze to build and expand your network. Realistic mode is for you to watch back and admire your work, as trains buzz by and money rolls in. About money, the game expands on currency by not only requiring money but also other kinds of resources. These special resources are required for a lot of things in the game, so be prepared to not just put all your eggs in one basket and just focus on passengers. The game is built around you having enough variation in what you transport so at all times you have a steady income to afford all the upgrades, expansions, etc that you want. All in all, I love what I see so far from this game. The vibe and atmosphere is on point, it really feels like a labor of love and I'm very happy to see that even now there are already mods available for this title. Any tycoon/transport loving person should at least give this game a try.
Good game
yes
Lovely game. Can't wait for Jan to add more to it. Really enjoyed playing it all the way through to the end content.
