So this had been sitting on my Wishlist for awhile - I knew nothing about the game at all and was never particularly into Marvel aside from watching a few Wolverine and Deadpool movies awhile back. It just looked like another game worth putting on my Wishlist with all the hundreds of others, waiting for a Steam Sale and repeatedly saying 'nah, maybe next time'. Well I eventually got it on sale and have to say I'm glad I didn't miss out on this one.. I put a lot of hours into it and enjoyed every minute. It has a unique combination of gameplay elements which seem odd on the surface, but for me they worked great. It's fairly story-driven, with your time split between interaction with the other Superheroes at the Abbey, exploring the abbey grounds, and doing combat missions. As with the X-COM games by the same dev, you'll be building your team's strength, doing research, and managing your resources, much of which you'll get from doing missions. You'll also be improving your friendships with the other superheroes, and choosing & improving their cards for combat. As you progress, you'll slowly explore new areas of the Abbey grounds, which reveals more backstory and gives access to more plants to pick for making things at the cauldron if you wish, though I would say don't focus on picking plants as much as I did, they're handy for the average player but probably not worth spending too much time on. I have to mention that I did enjoy the gothic feel of the Abbey and grounds.. right up my street :) Combat is turn-based and uses card decks. It adds other aspects in there, such as knocking enemies into each other or over ledges. As you complete battles, you'll gradually unlock further difficulty levels which you are encouraged to increase as you play, just to keep the challenge at the right level for your team. I did run into some bugs, mainly in combat, but they generally weren't too bad. Some things like your character not counter-attacking can be fixed by saving and reloading. I believe there's a bug that stops you getting the Ancestral Armour, which is one of a handful of armours, but it's not the end of the world tbh. The game has plenty of other viable armours and a huge amount of cosmetics and colour palettes. So overall I'd very much recommend the game. Full price is out of my range, generally speaking, but it felt like a steal on sale. The DLC's are pretty solid, which you can get with the Season pass, and account for 4 superheroes; Deadpool, Storm, Morbius and Venom. I'd suggest maybe watching a quick video of Deadpool to see if you can get on with his voice acting. Really nice quality game with good graphics, animations, voice-acting and story. I'm just a bit sad that it looks like there won't be a sequel as this wasn't really the commercial success they were hoping for. Hell, I even watched through most of the Marvel movies in release order while playing this, so it must have been alright :)
A great tactics game to be certain. Mixing and matching team comps to address the combat scenarios is the peak of the game experience. That being said, play this with music on, or maybe a podcast with the game itself on low volume/mute. The writing and acting is very bad, like not even funny bad; it makes Mass Effect: Andromeda look like <insert a game with actually good writing> and the music is not doing anything to stand out. When the game is gaming however, it is a creative treat of a deckbuilding TRPG that is really only held back by the aforementioned god-awful writing.
턴제 게임 좋아하시고 마블 좋아하시면 무조건 사세요. 너무 좋은 게임이에요 ^^
Super fun card, turn based rpg. love hanging out with the heros and the side quests around the alley just wish people wouldnt start talking as im leaving.
Absolutely love this game! Combat is satifying when you can pull off the crazy stuff as long as you like the turn based strategy combat. Potential for full turn arounds in matches where things look bad also happened much more often then you would think, sometimes one character and a lucky card draw can change the entire match! only issue I really have is sometimes there are some performance issues, some frame drops here and there and freezing and cutting for short times once in a while.
Fun game. I haven't played a lot of turn based strategies that I really enjoyed, but this is in the top 2, alongside Baldur's Gate. Gameplay aside, it's great getting to know all these characters in a different light.
Underrated Gem.
Absolutly love this game would hope that there would be sequal but from what ive researched looks like it wont happen iplayed on repeat on my ps5 had to get on PC for better graphics replaying again best game that reminds me of xcom 2 and south park rpgs
This is what a good Marvel game is. Buy the DLC edition when this game goes on sale. It is super fun and fresh and the characters are a blast. You will like this game. If you don't like it, maybe you should start liking better things.
you like tactics... you like deck builders... you like fun amd oh yeah marvel? then yes this one for sure!!!
