About
Dolven is a narrative-driven tactical RPG where combat fuses party-based skills with poker-style card combos and deckbuilding.
In this dark fantasy world, you command a band of mercenaries against the Dungeon Master who rules each cursed dungeon. Battles unfold on a grid-based battlefield where positioning, timing, and strategy are as important as the hand of fate you hold.

At the heart of Dolven lies a unique blend of classic RPG combat and poker-inspired deckbuilding.
Your mercenaries wield swords, bows, and spells through traditional RPG abilities with additional buffs coming from the cards in your hand.
Form poker-style combinations called a 'Rune Combo' such as pairs, straights, and flushes to earn extra mana with which to unlock more cards, empowering your party to turn the tide of battle. Every duel is more than a clash of steel—it’s a contest against the Dungeon Master himself, with you as his opponent, that's two dungeon masters facing off.

Dolven is more than a dungeon crawl. It is a battle against the Dungeon Master, a struggle against fate, and a journey into the heart of a dark fantasy curse in the search for a missing girl.
In the Stronghold, the werewolf Witherfang hides a chilling secret...and a missing child.
In the Freewood Forest, twisted fairytale creatures obey the cruel will of Atrisia Ven.
In the icy peaks, you’ll face Drulk the Ogre and his band of brutish misfits—watch out, he’s hungering for fresh meat.
And if you survive these trials, your path will lead you to Yongul, a figure cloaked in power and secrets. He is not what he seems—and when his truth is revealed, you must decide what fate awaits Dolven.
Will you break the curse, or be consumed by it?
Will you find the girl—or lose her to the darkness?
Will you honor your oath—or betray it for a greater cause?
The choice will be yours.

With six distinct endings—and a final, hidden reckoning only the bold will uncover—Dolven is a tale of loyalty and betrayal, of curses and crowns, and of the impossible choices that decide whether darkness endures… or is finally broken.

Players construct a deck made up of two main card types:
Mercenary Cards – Summon warriors, rogues, and mages to the battlefield.
Spell Cards – Cast magical effects, buffs, debuffs, or alter the battlefield itself.
Each card belongs to one of three archetypes—Strength (Red), Dexterity (Green), or Intelligence (Blue).
Arrange Mercenary cards on the Pillars to form hands like pairs, flushes, or straight flushes. The in-game Compendium lists every possible combo and the rewards they bring.
As you battle through Dolven’s maze of dungeons, you’ll customize your deck and collect gear to prepare for deadlier enemies ahead.

This game is different to what we both would usually play. However we found it to be quite addictive with its challenging battles and deck building (like poker) style gameplay. We found ourselves addicted and all of a sudden a few hours has gone past. Can recommend highly. You will be rewarded for taking your time with each move and that is very satisfying! Well done to the Devs on this game!
Very enjoyable game, can easily spend hours playing this one!
really cool!
It is not a bad game. I really like the poker-like card system, I do. My problem is that apart from that the game remains too shallow. Each char has just two unique skills that do not develop any further. The items you equip have just the basic attributes that increase, but that is it. There seem to be no events, no further levelling or development. True, I played only 1 hour, but I am afraid the battles will get just too repetitive. If this game was priced much lower, I would give it thumbs up, but still I doubt I would spend even 10 hours playing. With the current price I am sorry, but I refund and try something else.
Dolven is a tactical turn-based dungeon crawler with roguelike elements, deck building, and multiple endings. Battle Dungeon Masters and rescue the missing girl. Gameplay: https://youtu.be/gAbFFr56e0A The gameplay combines turn-based strategy and roguelike card game mechanics. You control a party of heroes. Your goal is to explore dungeons, kill enemies, and find the girl. Each hero has turn point bar, health bar, three skills, and inventory. Heroes' stats are affected by equipment and spells cast by cards and enemies during combat. You can reforge items, change your party composition and deck in the blacksmith's room. Using cards requires mana, which regenerates with each turn. You can gain additional mana by forming certain poker-style combinations called 'Rune Combos'. + Dark fantasy atmosphere. + Addictive gameplay with a low entry barrier. + 7 endings. + 6 hero classes. + Character customization. + Colorful fatalities. + Various loot and skills. + Global leaderboard. + Achievements.
Deck builders have become a staple in my rotation of games and any new ones get me curious! Dolven blends a lot of games you already know like Slay the Spire, with more table top elements to create its own unique and very addicting game style! Plenty of challenges to overcome, unique and fun deck building options, and a leader board to prove your worth against other players around the world! Prepare to lose a good chunk of time and enjoy!!
Knee deep in other games right now but saw Dolven come out and had to see the nuance of the turn based strategy on offer. I can say that the unique aspect of the unit + deck turn based grid combat is greatly implemented! You're really rewarded for thinking plays through. Whether the depth is there for long & repeated playthroughs I won't know until I clear the games I'm currently working on but from my initial playtime I can totally see the game nailing this aspect as well.
I followed this game since the demo came out and have been anticipating it!!! I love that you can set the game speed higher for those like myself who require a faster paced turn-based combat system. I also love that it has a card system on top of the grid based combat. The gameplay is self-explanatory and the tutorials are simple.
I first tried Dolven at PaxAUS in 2023. It was in very early stages, but I saw potential and I enjoy this genre and style of gaming. I played the demo in 2024 as well. This review is just on the full release in 2025.
The Good
----------- This pseudo deck builder, turn based tactical rpg dungeon crawler is fun. While each of the 6 classes only have 3 abilities, the deck modification adds randomness to each battle. The way combos work requires you to plan the cards you play against the enemy "Dungeon Master" where both strategy and luck come into play. Loot is randomized and plenty to diversify how you want to build your team, or you can just blindly go with whatever the game tells you is an upgrade with the green chevron/arrows. I actually enjoy the little voice acting bits of the bosses and they didn't get annoying to me even after 40+ hours of gameplay. You can beat the game a lot quicker than I did, but I was having fun exploring everything and experimenting with cards, strategies, and class combinations. It is easy to get into and rules are laid out in the compendium.
What Can Be Improved (In my opinion)
-------------------------- I have submitted a plethora of bugs and feedbacks with the in-game reporting function. I hope that is still being utilized as some bugs forces you to restart the battle or close the game (which makes you restart the battle) and I was reporting multiple times a day. Sometimes I would try quirky tactics just to find it broke something within the game and I had to restart the room (thankfully not the whole dungeon). Let's just say I ended up removing "send enemy unit back to spawn tile" from my deck. It caused more trouble than it was worth. Outside of bugs, some classes just completely outshine others despite having a rock, paper, scissor mechanic between STR, DEX or INT archetype. [strike] The Mage skills I'm not sure is intentional or a bug/overlook, but two of its abilities MAGIC MISSLE and FIREBALL do the same thing, has the same base dmg, except FIREBALL has a 2 turn cooldown. No AoE, no DoT, no extra range. I have no idea why it exists at all. Maybe I'm blind or maybe it's missing a tooltip. [/strike] They patched this to make FIREBALL stronger the night after my review and feedback report! Coincidence or not, I'm happy for the changes. I have never found a ring or amulet/necklace accessory. Every class has slots for those, but I haven't discovered any. Is it a WIP or am I just really unlucky? I may never know.
What I didn't like
-------------------- I am not a fan of the kill camera cinematic when you kill an enemy. I'm sure some people love it, I just want an option to turn it off. In games like these I am very focused on numbers and when it does the cinematic kill camera, it is hard to see how much damage I did to that enemy unit. If you try to change party members between dungeon levels, they are gone forever, including all the equipment you gave them to wear. The replaced new member (even if you decided to go back to the previous class, you can't get anything back) will have some gear appropriate for the progress. I wish there was a way to remove and retain all the gear if you change party members or a way to have a member on standby for the time being with the gear you left on them. I wish you are able to change the class of the "Hero". If I had known I would be stuck with this class for the entire game unless I delete all my progress, card collections etc by selecting NEW GAME, I would've put more thought into selecting a hero instead of just picking something quick to jump into the game or maybe letting me change the Hero's class when I revisit dungeons already completed? This would add more replay-ability, for me at least.
Overall
----------- It is a good game with unique and fresh ideas/mechanics. With the hours I sunk into it and fun I had throughout the game, I found it to be money well spent. I look forward to patches/fixes/ or whatever they have installed for the future of Dolven.
Dolven 2: Oathbreaker was on the credit screen after I beat the game. I have no idea what that is, if someone knows, please let me know lol
The devs are responsive and listen to the players which is a big plus!
Не играбельно в текущем состоянии из-за многочисленных ломающих игру багов.
