Excellent turn based fighting game with obvious extra appeal to Marvel fans, not a bad story so far (about 40 hours in)
This game's strategy mechanics is really fun to play. As far as the actual social sim aspect... it's ok. The characters are also fun to meet and their skill sets are very diverse and varied.
This is one of my favorite games of all times. Really is that good.
X-Com meets the Sims somewhat. But tactical combat is much more forgiving. Typical AA game, enjoy on discount
TL;DR: A turn-based card battler with excellent strategic depth wrapped in a Marvel package. Skip the narrative and get to the amazing battles! The story is weak, and the writing is juvenile, filled with bad jokes and awkward dialogue. Characters also come off as ignorant. Voice acting is inconsistent and often poorly delivered. The music is serviceable, and the art direction is moderate, though character designs sometimes clash with the environments. The roster mixes staple Marvel heroes with a few unique additions. You create a Hunter avatar, but customization is limited, it has an androgynous voice, and the skills are fixed with a light or dark path based on convo choices. The card-based combat remarkably fun. Each turn gives you a limited number of card plays, redraws, and movement options to encourage strategy. Cards have unique effects and tags, environmental interactions are satisfying, and critical draws add excitement. The animations, sound design, and camera work make battles feel epic. You can level up characters, upgrade cards, and customize decks. Unfortunately, missions and enemy types become repetitive over time. Outside of combat, the game is padded with filler. Poor dialogue choices, relationship meters, club meetings, hangouts, and hub exploration often feel like chores.. There are plenty of collectibles and lore entries for completionists. Lastly, the game borrows too many mobile and gacha-inspired design elements. There's a cash shop for cosmetic skins, and the game's already weak writing is further undermined by awkward, alphabet characterization. DLC require to get all the characters. I am surprised there is no season pass.
Amazing story, graphics and missions
Schade.
