It's great fun and the deck building definitely has some meat to it. But jesus it certainly has some of the most hideous design choices and textures I've ever seen for marvel characters EVER

comic books, like all mediums, are mostly awful, poorly written schlock. in the average comic characters act stupidly, don't talk through any of the issues pertinent to the conflict of the story, and mostly just bumble around to the tune called by whatever hack writer has been deposited into the title through this week's nepotism lottery. it is rare for one to transcend this, to have actual depth of emotion and characters worth partaking in the story and struggles of. this game is in the first category. this is not a watchmen type game. this is not a final crisis type game. ♥♥♥♥, this isn't even a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kraven's last hunt type game. this is a D tier weekly serial "nothing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happens and everyone's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moron" type game. don't buy this. have some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ self respect.

I want to like this game, but it feels like they adjusted a bunch of stuff to make microtransactions more attractive. Literally the entire time you're in the home base part of the game it feels like they're trying to get you to drop money. Richard Garfield, creator of Magic the Gathering, describes games like this as "Skinnerware". Machines designed to take your money, not designed to be fun and entertaining first. The actual game part of the game, like the battles and mechanics and that kind of stuff is actually pretty neat.

Marvel XCOM

I wish there was a neutral option. I had some good moments with the game but ultimately I think it tries to do too many things at once. There was just so much potential for XCOM/BG3 style turn based combat with abilities and positioning using Marvel superheroes, I feel like the cards were unnecessary, and the various activities on the island often feel like a distraction

slow to start but picks up, gameplay loop is solid. voice acting grew on me after awhile. a shame it was slept on deserves a sequel. anyways one of the better marvel games (ill admit the bar is kinda low there tho). best thing? no doomsday clock :)
