A beautiful game with phenomenal gunplay. It has balanced classes (there will always be a meta). Extraction shooters just aren't for everybody. Current state is very PvP focused (step 1: wipe lobby, step 2: maybe that contract? Hey did any of those dead teams have a key?) and the skill/equipment wealth gap is very real. Incredibly punishing for newer players or those that do not have a consistent set of trios. Endgame content (fully unlocking all faction VIP upgrades) is effectively gated requiring a good team running cryo archive each weekend. You can't realistically progress otherwise without treating the game like a part-time job (looking at you, outpost red room loot nerf). Player base narrowing has had a real effect on matchmaking and the only mode I've found enjoyable recently has been the sponsored kit mode which feels more like a battle royale since the gear gap is zero at start of round. My friends and family have moved on to other games and I'm following. The bones of the game are great. I don't want to have to hang out on discord to progress though. I'll check back in later to see how bungie addresses reality. edit: more than half my time is overnight idle time where I should have shut off the PC or exited the game. Still over 500 hours of real playing. Definitely got my money's worth, I just can't recommend the game to new players until it finds a way to not immediately punish them and drive them off.
Wanted this game to be good so bad, but its funny because almost immediately after starting up this game i had a, wait is this it moment? and slight regret. But my cousin and i tried to force it to be fun and it was, but after about 5-10 games it become increasingly obvious it was a rushed product produced to eliminate the Arc Raiders booming monopoly. They got a call that bungie needs an extraction title. Regardless i couldn't help but kick myself at the obvious scam. The game is polished enough to be worth the price, but should never have been released in the first place. I don't care what people think about Apex legends but by god, Apex legends is free and 10x better. It sucked realizing this. I can load up Apex, scavenge for items and enjoy attacking other teams and shooting random ai bots also. There is real progression/ lvl'ing and vanity to buy with in game progression coin. regardless as for what matters, there were 3 maps on this release and and one locked for late season progression, but with just looting as the main point in the game, so that, you can just go do it again and do it again. eventually the point is just shooting ai bots and getting 3rd partied, or running around trying to be the '3rd party'. i cant see a world where this game makes sense, its like a BR where theres low player interaction and all the emphasis is on looting, but its an extraction shooter but trying to have classes and abilities like apex. but the majority of firefights are against repetitive bots. horrible how it plays out, because they also have to reset your progress every so many weeks/months to keep it fair to new players. not good, classic triple A game slot/ genre filling
If you do not have the time to get on every day and a crew to play with, you will rapidly fall behind the power curve of other players and be unable to compete until the next wipe. I will give it props for both an excellent artstyle and a great narrative direction, but unless you're a hardcore fan of the extraction shooter genre and are willing to wait until reset to even start playing, I wouldn't pick this up casually.
Solo is broken. I literally cannot play the game. Negative review will remain until they fix their game. It's such a shame because the game is actually fun.
Do not buy this crap I have been searching for a game for about 15 mins and cant find one its dead.
terrible game for one reason, all the menu crap you have to go through for collecting unlocks. make a collect all option so im not going through this terrible UI for 30 minutes
.
Bungie made a mistake by making this game an extraction shooter.
