Reviews
LF Episode 2 is a vertical slice of JRPG-style goodness. i enjoyed Episode 1 but did not feel so compelled to write a review for it as i do for Episode 2. as far as presentation goes it carries over the charm of Episode 1, with the environment looking great as expected. it retains the same addicting battle and boss themes and the style of the game feeling classic and functioning as expected. the characters' designs continue to feel unique and expressive and the soundtrack is just pure wonder (dynamic this time in some places as well!) and really helps alongside the script to sell the Deeplands as a setting of mystery and an appropriate stage for its conflicts. this time roaming openly dangerous locations is a more focal point than Episode 1. Each area presents its own challenges in navigation and rewards exploration appropriately. there's a good amount of things to discover including powerful Items and sudden miniboss encounters that are off the beaten path if you seek it out. Boss fights are also much more frequent and the introduction of Summons (like FF) add another layer of strategy to combat. being smart with your Credits and Items, and how you spend your turns in combat beyond just "attack until it dies and heal if i have to" is a greater focus due to the tougher enemies and more diverse encounters. the party members in Episode 2 reflect this as well. the new characters are not simply adorable and fun companions in dialogue. understanding the role they play and leveraging their abilities is crucial, but not so much that Item usage is obsolete. difficulty is not hard, but adaptability and strategy are key enough components that help the gameplay feel overall much more engaging with different ways to approach it in Episode 2. all these things come together to create a much more variable, richer RPG experience that felt well worth my time, and is definitely a highlight of my time with Light Fairytale so far. like Episode 1, this game takes its time in developing the story and characters and ends on a cliffhanger. i'm eager to play Episode 3 once it's ready and very much excited to see where neko.works takes us next.
Huge improvement over the first one in a lot of ways, from the story to the mechanics and the diversity of combat. The fact that this is apparently the labor of love of just a tiny team with one passionate lead developer is pretty impressive.
My review applies to both Episode 1 and 2: The main draw for me with this series are the visuals. It has a diorama like look to it which when coupled with QOL conveniences like increased play speed, enjoyable music and story, decent combat and good enemy design makes for a fun short experience that you can easily get into and enjoy.

A surprising development from the first game, it keeps getting better.
x-- 7/10 --x A really well made and simple RPG. Loved the inspiration and little easter eggs.
Short but impressive! Really like the simliarity to so much beloved games on the same Genre. Especially for a Single developer it's an amazing game! I really lookin forward for how the Story develops. Episode 1 and 2 are done already lookin forward for three and what comes after that 💪 Really can recommend that game. So can say the same as for Episode 1, however I was suprised how Episode 2 was starting out and it have shown some New strenghts! Great work I can just say, happy for Episode 3 to be released 💪
