More of the same, yes. And exactly because of that it is awesome.
I have played all 3 Parts of the Amberland Saga. All are fantastic old fashioned RPGs. If you like such games I can recommend all 3 parts.
Amazing game. The unique take is to focus on what is fun with this type of game. You don't get bogged down with some of the toil that comes with these of RPGs/CRPGs. Don't let the graphics be a deterrent as the game has great content. You don't have to take my word on it just try the free demo and see for yourself.
If you liked Amberland 1 and 2, you will like Amberland 3. I like the introduction of the clue system - it felt pretty good as a mechanic for quests. The new classes were fun to play with as well. Not as much of a leap in feature richness as it was from 1 to 2, but overall a solid entry. Fingers crossed for getting a 4th!
"If you liked the first two games, you'll like this one as well" - a lazy but not inaccurate review. However the dev isn't just doing more of the same, this game offers new things (more character classes, clue-based questing) while also improving older systems (game balance is vastly better than in the first two titles!). So overall, a steady and evolutionary improvement for the series. If you make Amberland IV, I will buy and play that one too.
As an old RPG gamer (Might and Magic 1-8 and Ultima 4-6), this game brings back memories from my childhood.
It's good but it's short. IMO much shorter than Legends II, but has quality-of-life improvements (e.g. midnight rune). Scratches the M&M itch pretty well but ... it would be nice to see a bit more 'complexity' in some future releases (more spells, buying spells from a magic shop, etc.)
Love it! Hope they make a 4th. There are some refinements that would be nice, but this classic style is definitely for me. I'll keep buying what they make.
So far this seems like a great sequel to a series I've enjoyed very much so far! I really enjoyed the Might and Magic games this series was graphically and spiritually based on, and it really brings the nostalgia feels for me!
I'd recommend if you're looking for an old school style crpg like Daggerfall and the Might and Magic games. Its much smaller scale and you really see what the game has to offer in the time i played which is not much. it helps that the estimated play time is 12-16 hours. In less than an hour, I created 7 Characters inspired by some recent animes's i like and it turned out fairly well. Did some questing and it was little guidance, really just go ask around and see what you find out. Also got a boat. Dialogue is goofy but its a pretty light game. Combat was actually pretty fun. You can either spam attack or use spells and characters have a special move for their build. its an overall fun game that id recommend, especially on steamdeck or rog ally(i played on ZE1). I'm refunding as it wasnt worth $20 for me, but id think it is for soemone old enough to have nostalgia for thsi type of game. If youre in your mid 20's at the oldest and just find older styled games cool, I'd say wait for a 50% off sale. Thats when i'll repurchase personally.
